So today, 30/09/2013 LucidView launches mobile 4Mbps uncapped feeding off the MTN network.
http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/87617-r199month-for-uncapped-mobile-broadband.html

Report says it's for smartphones, but it has been clarified that it can work on any 3G modem, provided not locked.
Not anymore, only smartphones allowed.

18/10/2013
Another policy change:
No downloads (expect for Phone store updates)
No streaming (video or audio)
No torrents
No VPN tunneling
No multi user sharing of single chitchat sim
Sim cards is to be used in cellphone and tablets only

Price: R199 month to month + comes with R50 airtime.
Availability: LucidView subscribers only.
To use own APN for control.
P2P is blocked/forbidden..

There is no throttling or shaping, rather
availability of bandwidth is based on the immediate demand of the users on their network, prioritising traffic as follows:
1. Instant messaging (text only), such as WhatsApp, ChatOn, Viber, and others.
2. Banking, browsing, and e-mail.
3. Voice-over-IP (Viber, Tango, SIPDroid, and others); Multimedia (streaming audio and video); updates; file synchronisation (Dropbox and others); downloads; and other large content.

Upon registration (today) users are told they should expect delivery on 05/10/2013.

Feedback in this thread

EDIT: Forumite states that upon calling LucidView sim is scheduled to be delivered (after the debit order) and should take 5 business days, where you'll be needed to produce RICA details.
EDIT: Debit order for me goes off on 02/10/2013.
EDIT: Sim still not received by any member as of 10/10/2013 (Bare full amount has been paid). LucidView support abysmal/nonexistent.
EDIT: Sim arrives 11/10/2013. No RICA my side, as courier says not needed, other forumites relate of receiving the sim without producing anything. But have to wait for next week as MTN SP do activation's week days. So we wait.
EDIT: Monday, 14/10/2013, afternoon sim get's activated, but not provisioned for APN usage yet. Upon asking LucidView for the time frame, they don't know how long it will take as they are waiting on MTN.
EDIT: 15/10/2013 everything is sorted after so much headaches. Some throughput.

In it's current state, please don't bother with this product. Product is for "chating" & everything else literally unusable, aside from the odd website.

EDIT: 18/11/13 CEO sends email around telling users that they get 1GB to do whatever they want.

For what you pay for R199 (even R150) for "Chitchat", not worth it, and a rip-off. Other services better than this inluding just buying your own data.

Read thread for feedback and post your own + questions.

Actual network feedback on page 14 onwards, and here's a review thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/567273-LucidView-Uncapped-Review?p=11362633#post11362633
Here's another detailed review of the product in 4 days use: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/567273-LucidView-Uncapped-Review

EDIT: This is how everything performs:

Back to the dial-up days.

Steer clear!

Please keep is updated on the progress - delivery status, download speeds, speedtest etc.

If the service is truly uncapped and you are capable of achieving 50 gig roughly per month then I will definitely take them up on there offer but this is unsustainable

I have ordered my sim and send my debit order forms , lets see what happens :)

Done done, let's hope they verified and debit order goes off tomorrow. I would love to see them add credit card option as well, and support prorata if they haven't implemented it yet.

Come now, why not join us and be in the first batch to use? R199 won't kill, plus it's month to month so, cancel if unhappy.

Never heard of LucidView and now this deal is for members only.

Signed up and will fax debit order tomorrow morning - will see what comes of it....anything just to get stable network, I've had enough of cell c network..

Ok, I will give it a bash another R1000 investment on mobile internet hopefully I am able to achieve something.

1) Would also love a credit card option that way I have peace of mind don't like giving such details to parties cause maybe an OOBShark will come bite my account big time :P

if this works i will cancel my afrihost mobile .

if this really works great , i will cancel my adsl , and move my heavy downloads to the wug and some HD series with the uncapped through usenet.

like today i am using my afrihost mobile again , exchange congested again :P

I take it that the RICA and FICA etc will be handled during delivery of the SIM card....when signing up, there's zero information about what you actually signing up for...

Would like to hear from mybb user who has signed up & is using it.
A good review if possible.

xeslaro: Please post a review once you start using the service.
Maybe a day by day over a week or month with totals downloaded, speeds achieved & throttling.

For sure, when I get it..probably only in November only, debit order form can only be sent tomorrow, which throws the activation date off to the following month I guess...I'll be able to do tests in Durban and Richards Bay regularly, as I live in both villages.

@Slab that looks very unprofessional they've not received funds as yet but are already dispatching a sim card.

Possibly they might charge you come month end - please check your bank statement :)

Bit odd. Sim card on it's way, but no payment. What if my details bounce. Anyways no activity in my bank acc.
