Mac OSX Lion.

Thunderbird is seriously annoying me so I may just upgrade and remove all the extra stuff and give Mac Mail a try again.

Yeah I never liked Thunderbird much. Mac Mail is ok, does the trick but although a paid app I still prefer Outlook for Mac.

I suppose which mail client works best depends on your needs. For the volume of mail I get at work, and volume of mailing list mails I have to deal with, Outlook (both Windows and Mac) and OWA are an absolute pain in the behind to use. I have it only to deal with meeting requests and occasionally adding/modifying filtering rules.

Hmm, I would have thought if you were getting tons of mail Outlook would be better?

Do you find Mac Mail works ok for massive amounts of mail?

How? What does Outlook offer than makes handling large volumes of mail easier?

I only use Mac mail for my personal mail, so I can't say. It feels faster than Outlook though. The one feature that makes Thunderbird so much better for me is proper thread handling. Outlook puts everything in "conversations" but with no indentation to show proper parent/child relationships. This makes tracking a thread that branches into several sub threads quite difficult to follow.

Neither Mac Mail nor Outlook follow thread/mail IDs properly, so if I have my sorting set to threaded, and someone sends me an e-mail with the exact same subject as a previous mail (which may be entirely unrelated), it puts them together.

So, I bought my iMac a few weeks ago and I qualify for a free upgrade. I tried to upgrade on Sunday. After some six-step process including scanning & uploading proof of purchase I completed the request. I received an email from "do-not-reply" address informing me that my request is being processed... I am still waiting!

1. Is this normal?
2. I called iStore and they told me to fetch an installation disc - I thought these weren't available?
3. Is there an email address I can write to, to find out why the delay?

Thanks

Just wait a few days apple will mail you a reference number something with ...-...- then you have to wait a few days they will mail you again with a code for your free upgrade to lion.

What you can do is print that reference number and take it to digicape ask them for a copy of lion then sign a form and off you go once installed you will see on your app store that lion will be under your purchases tab after apple mailed you that code.

I went to the iStore yesterday. They give me a disk. Yes, I received the email with Ref# almost immediately BUT I'm still waiting for the "app code"! Doesn't matter now... Used the disk from iStore to upgrade.
