MAC vs WINDOWS

Maybe someone can perhaps justify the reasoning behind all those different pricepoints vista has? Why not just sell a server edition and a consumer one?

U seen all the different versions (colours) of Office?
They did that with the mac office too but everyone I know buys the cheap student/teacher edition anyway :D

I thought that this wasn't supposed to be a fanboyism discussion on which is better? :p

/ducks flames

didnt take you long . . .
Not fanboyism, just stating what we already know ;) Unless you're inferring that Apple has the dominant market share with OS's, in which case I could point you to many references stating otherwise

*sigh*

We get it dude, you got a Mac and you love it, and you want everyone to know how much you love it :p

But the point of the thread is that a Mac can do whatever a PC can do, and vice versa. Agree/disagree?

Nah, I reckon u use whatever suites u.

Anyway, I know u like annoying the fanboys.
Nothing wrong with that. ;)

Where can I get Vista for that price - and I don't want a watered down starter edition either.

Hey, I said it came in a number of versions! The starter edition goes for about R300 per licence from Rectron, but it has to be bought in a 30-pack. The Home Basic edition goes for about R700 from Rectron.

No you are not, but it still runs faster on a Mac.

And yes, you can use either VMWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop to play games

Interesting, Leopard, hacked to run on a PC, ran faster on the PC than on the Mac, according to some benchmarks I saw the other day.

I didn't know that about VMWare and Parallels! They've come a long way to be able to virtualise DirectX enough to play Call of Duty or FEAR or whatever.

Because Microsoft are damn irritating. Every wants the Ultimate edition, but most people don't want to shell out that much. Personally, I think it's annoying for the customer; I don't want to pay as much as Ultimate, but Home Premium is lacking some features available only in Business (like faxing and remote desktop).

I saw those benchmarks and if its the same one then the hardware was so different it hardly made for any realistic comparison.

• Mac Pro w/ 2 x 2.66GHz (C2D), 1GB RAM
• Hackintosh w/ 2.21GHz (core duo), 4GB RAM
• MacBook Pro w/ 2GHz (core duo), 2GB RAM
