Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

Damn. Im away for 2 days and the the thread goes crazy.
Needed to do some catching up.

Still very happy with my Sammy Plasma. The longer its running the better its looking.
Brother bought the Sinotec Plasma and he had none of the problems I had regarding blurring.
He is very happy but I must admit that with SD feed, my Sammy looks a lot better than the Sinotec.
I wanna invest in component cables and run that from my HDD Recorder to the TV. Where to buy?

Matt... if your Xbox cable has the red/green/blue connections, use those. Plug them into the corresponding input & swith the TV's source to 'YPbPr#'. Component can deliver full HD (obviously the original Xbox doesn't provide it, though) so make sure to flick the switch on the cable to HD as well.

If you've got it correctly set up, you should get a picture without the yellow plug connected. Depending on your setup, you'll still use the white & other red for sound - that's your left/right stereo output...

DUDE........... you seriously rock man. holy c@#$@# what a difference in picture :eek: - i was playing Fallout 3 with just AV white and yellow and now that i switched.... :D Man i know im so ignorant when it comes to these things but thanks so much dude. i think its time to finally lock myself away for awhile.thanks again man :D this just made the Sinotech 10 x better.i feel a whole less guilty for splurging!
 
hehe, no worries. So we are talking xbox360 then?

Fallout3 screwed gaming for me in a big way. I now have this expectation that every game I buy must live up to that post-apocalyptic masterpiece... and NOTHING has :(

At least Forza3 is on the horison...

EDIT - Oh, and make sure that your display setting on the 360 is set to 1080p - as long as you've had your 360 updated to the latest software it can upscale to 1080p over component. Lastly, if your 360 has an HDMI port (they've all had for the last 12 - 18 months or so, if I recall) get an HDMI cable - that can carry a true 1080p signal.

EDIT EDIT - if you screw up the display settings, reboot the 360 while holding the right trigger and 'Y' - that'll reset the display settings to default

i presume i can be happy with using the standard AV cables on my dvd player? man im bummed cuz my last dvd recorder had hd upscaling or some nonsense but it messed up (stay AWAY from Lg dvd recorders,google that ish!).dvd formats only use like 720x576 res or something like that? but im a happy chap.yoh yoh yoh

Just found this on the net, seems like MKV - H264 is coming. I spoke to the guys at Sanji a few weeks ago and they mentioned a killer .MKV solutions was coming soon, they also mentioned the price was going to be excelent. I think this is it guys, this is what I have been waiting for ........:)

They're the only major Japanese manufacturer now that Pioneer and Hitachi have stopped doing plasmas. Pioneer was the king of plasma until now and Hitachi and Panasonic were tied for second place. Panasonic subsequently was to produce panels for the other two Japanese makers until they decided to pull out of plasma.

I think Philips and Samsung do plasmas too but whether those are in-house panels or from a third party - I don't know.
 
This might sound stupid but what is the USB input at the back of my Samsung Plasma for?
I plugged it in with pictures loaded on and also some DivX movies but it did nothing.
Can't access it via the Source list and the manual says nothing about it. Just shows it in the pictures but there is no chapter or points regarding it.

Now if you read the manual"when all else fails read this manual"you would find it is for service only.I dont mean any offence just having a good laugh.
 
That's the thing. I did read the manual. But it says nothing where I read.
Saw it in the pics but that is about it.

anyways i must also say i was at Game and they had HD PVR hooked up to all the 42'.when the guy switched over to the hd channel i could BARELY see a difference between the sinotech and the R13000 Samsung Series 5 or something.yes the samsung was a tiny and i mean tiny bit clearer but it doesnt justify R5000 EXTRA.unless you a real perfectionist (which alot of ppl are) would you notice.The Scarlets quality was shocking and i asked the guy if its the same feed.The HD Feed on the Sinotech was excellent....il look forward to the day i buy the hd pvr...definetely!

I guess if i got a new xbox or PS3 at some point il really LOVE what i bought.Im actually very happy at the moment with the Sinotech and this is only after 2 hours of playing around.Movies are gonna be WAYYY better on 42 inches than 37 CM's :D

Ok sorry for the essay but ive been reading this thread for a good month now and i just thought id give my initial response straight after buying.Im sure the Samsungs and Sony's are better in most ways but for a young lad like myself on a budget i couldnt ask for much else...plus the 5 year guarantee is real peace of mind.

if its the same as im thinking.. they aren't connected via HDMI.. so the HD channel will look like a normal channel, thus not looking clearer. Doubt game is forking out for 50m HDMI cables so you can see quality !

Check the file system of your USB device that you plugged in. AFAIK, the file system must be FAT32 and not NTFS.

If the USB port is in an innocuous location at the back of the set & not labeled at all, I would hazard that it is indeed for servicing only - updating software & such...

really? the sinotec's USB plays DivX, Jpg's and mp3's ?

yoh but my eyes are sore from playing games all afternoon.
i just have a question.the blue/green cable that im using from my xbox to tv obviously made a huge difference but would it make a big difference if i got a cable like that for my dvd player.i see ive got the green/blue ports on it and ive just been using the yellow white avs...will it make a diff?

Yes definitely
The type of cables from best to worst are:
HDMI
VGA
Component (what you referring to)
Composite (normal yellow, red & white)
Coaxial (aerial type cables)

Jus an update. I went to Dion Wired today. They have the Samsung 50 inch Plasma FULL HD at 17999 which is a good price I think. The salesman brought it down to 16999 but said he can do at 16500 when I go back to get it on Tuesday. It is a series 5 as well.

Seems like a good deal if anyone is interested...

Plasma is better than LCD. I would buy a plasma over an LCD today but I'm still happy with my 3 year old 720p HD 42 inch plasma.
 
lol it just got even better ....went and bought a vga cable and now im watching all my dvd rips through my laptop.I think my onboard card isnt anything special ,its an Nvidia lower spec i think but at Full resolution on the Sino it looks decent.and these are dvd rips so there is a bit of compression visible but dvd uncompressed would look SUPER! yoh im REAL happy with my purchase. I know the Sammy is better but man i dont have R13000 to spend on a tv.

oh and last night i played Dead Space on Full HD with the Xbox and it is seriously beautiful.Gaming is a whole new experience aswell..... if you on a budget i think you should consider Sinotec but if you a brand boytjie rather stay clear because im sure you will find tiny differences to complain about.can you guys recommend a site to download some HD clips? i know it wont essentially be full HD but just for testing around
