Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

matt, go to a lan, and download a few 1080p IMAX movies..... 'just for testing purposes' of course :D

...then there is always the 12GB 1080p bluray rips?

wow...just download one of those hd samples and its beautiful.looks just as good as the big brand names...i just think its sad that at Makro for example they have those blu ray discs playing that have been shot with like an imax camera on the sony's or something and all the ppl are lured in so easy.i mean who would think twice between that and the Sinotech that has a terrible quality copy of Madagascar 2 on it?
ok so Blu Ray dvd rips are 12 gigs? woah i think thats out of the download budget .... but i mean those would be damn popular right cause you would just need the correct codecs to run it.none of these R3000 blu ray players.but man technology needs to slow down abit.

edit - Keeper ,sandman - did you guys get that 'tv guarantee card' in the box aswell that says you have to fill it in and send it off to keep the warranty registered? i dont really feel safe about sending off details and addresses to ppl.says i have 2 weeks to fill it in but i know i wont....i shouldnt be worried right

i didnt get a card, but i would send it just in-case - might be a new thing?

the 1080p blurays are 10-12 GB, the 720p ones are 4-5GB...but get them at a lan rather? no need to download them...

anyway - totally agree with the "imax camera" stuff for the sony's, etc - I know they do it... I would too If I was the owner!

It is notoriously difficult to compare picture quality when looking at one set at a time. You need to put them side by side. But its always helpful to turn off the gimmicky picture boost features.

Also note that places like AudioVision don't use BD playback but HD generators with videos optimised for showrooms. BD doesn't look as good as that.

There are also a number of warnings about viewing shops as they optimise TVs for their viewing area which may be extremely different from your chosen area at home interms of ambient lighting, distance etc.

The 50" Plasma for R12k is 50Hz and HD ready Series 4 but older model hence the reduced price. They have the new generation series 4 Plasma's, HD ready, 100Hz 42" for R9.5k on special. The 50", 100Hz Plasma goes for around R18k. I bought the 50", 50Hz Plasma yesterday for R12k, being delivered today, will let you know how it shapes up. So it's the older generation series 4 Plasma....

Do you have the Makro link for this?

Weekly special at Game.Samsung hd ready 42' Plasma R7999.99.And to think I paid R8999.99 10 days ago.Same model as mine.It is a series 4.

Should I now take back the one I bought from Makro? Still have 5 days left.
Then go and buy it from Game?

Nah. Don't think so. Next week Makro might have it for R7499.00. Prices are always going to fall. Forget about it and move on.

I have gone into mourning.R1000.00 is a fair number of amstels.Would have covered the cost of the HD player I bought.

you might still be in luck - go back there and start complaining.

yes, i'm serious. :)

you might be able to get 1k back

Dont they have that "found it cheaper" deal? 14 days and they will refund you the difference? Does it not apply to their own stores???? Just go in and tell them that a different branch has it cheaper.... lol

Thanks for the info Keeper.Worth a try.In a more serious note I read somewhere on these forums that it takes at least 30 hours of use before an LCD shows it's true worth. If this is the case does it also apply to Plasma's because yesterday I noticed a vast difference in the picture quality of my Plasma.Of course I may have pushed the right button by mistake on the remote.
