Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

The honest to God truth is set up all sets equally running the same source media with the same picture settings etc etc and you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference...

exactly.

in-store the sinotec feed looks chit - but im pretty damn sure that my HDMI connected Set at home, running a blu-ray source, looks just as good as the 18k "Big brand" sets on display at these stores, which they use "Awesome videos of slow-motion butterflies flapping in front of a waterfall" in 1080p DEMO Discs.

the expensive Sources are recorded in the amazon or something using freaken Imax-like camera's, and are only allowed to be shown on the say, "sony set" because it's the sony demo disc, and they paid for it.

meanwhile, the sinotec gets some DVD, via component cable to "show off" it's quality...

50"....man, that's purty big... makes a 32" look like a dinky toy

The stand is big, actually belittles the size of the screen, it's ridiculously big. What is immediately noticeable is there so many different settings to tweak the picture, you can adjust how black you want the blacks, how white you want the whites, gamma, saturation, tint settings etc etc etc actually a bit of a ball ache to be honest. Picture is superb mind you but the Sinotec, by comparison is not out of its depth, not by any stretch of the imagination. Aesthetically the Sammy kills it, the swivel base works very well too and the tactile feel of the unit is definitely a cut above the Sinotec but the picture quality, mmmmm, not a great deal of difference there... well not that I can see in any event. Will play around and compare some more...

ahhh sandmam - lol this thread is like a rollercoaster :p one minute the Sinotec is okish and now its not THAT far behind the sammy.il be standing there 2moro in Game infront of the Sino and if it appeals to me its a done deal.but watch next week after you unlocked the Samsungs full potential you gonna laugh at the Sino.lol

it's all in the mind - especially with women.

slap a "Sony Bravia eXperia Quad-HTS II" sticker on a telefunken LCD, and a telefunken sticker on a Bravia - I promise you your wife would go for the telefunken with the Sony Sticker.

trust me.

also, screen sizes. sandmanm34's screen looks small on the huge table - but 50" is HUUUUGE!

if you go to makro, look at a 32". it looks quite big - if you don't have a TV, you wouldn't mind getting it at all. now look at the 42" for 5 minutes, and go stand in front of the 50" for another 5 minutes.
when you get back to the 32", you don't want it - it suddenly looks TINY now...

all in the mind.

best advice: take your own DVD player/Xbox/Bluray player along and test it yourself with HDMI.

lol definetely Keeper - after i came home from Makro last weekend my 54 cm looked like a PSP ! 32' is definetely an upgrade from 54cm so whatever i get tomorrow i should stop visiting this thread and this section of the forum because il get 2nd thoughts on what i bought.but man this place is too damn informative lol

lol, My PC went from a 14" to a 17", to a 22" to a 42"

I can NOT imagine how we played games on a 14"

seriously...... :D

+1, the way they got stuff setup at the stores is totally inconsistent. At Germiston Makro they had the Sammy setup so badly I wouldn't have given it a second look if I hadn't seen it the day before at Makro Woodmead where it held center stage and looked fantastic and the Sinotecs were connected in a loop rca configuration that made them look very ordinary.

What I will say is on both sets the SD feed looks terrible, watching a bit of the Griquas Province match and it is horrible on both the Sinotec and the Sammy... So maybe consider the Sony Matt.... hahaha... Just kidding but seriously the SD picture is really bad, HD FTW....

hahha sandman im not clued up at all and all i tell most ppl is that HD TV's are made for HD feeds? how can you expect an air signal to look decent on a 42' HD TV :p am thinking the Sinotech will be mainly for Xbox and Dvds..... and in a few years for the hd signal.makes sense right?

I expected the SD feed to be weak on the Sinotec but I was surprised how bad it was on the Samsung too. Perhaps I need to invest in a booster of some sort cause it's pretty awful..

Having spoken to 2 different people who own R26000.00 LED samsungs they also moan about the sd channels. Both are receiving signal via hd decoders. One is running X Box for videos and there the set comes into its own.Sandmanm if you find a booster that makes a difference please post the name of store/website.I only have a sd decoder.
