if you're going to take the plunge on the lower end of the HDTV bracket, i'd suggest the LOGIK range of FULL HDTV's over at Game. The 32, 37, 40 and 42 inch TVs fair well in comparison side-by-side with the better brands, especially on PS3 and Blu-Ray. 3 year guarentee and a further 2 years available to purchase for an additional R600. The only short-comings I would say are the fact that many of the LOGIK brand have just ONE HDMI port and that it is a 50hz TV as opposed to those wanting to have that more 'video-looking' output on the 24p HDTV's available. Otherwise, the pictures are flawless in comparison with SONY and SAMSUNG.

Don't pay much attention to the contrast ratio jargon. As long as you can manually adjust the contrast to suit you and the room the TV is in, that's all you'll ever need.

For the price, they seem good value for money and are well backed by GAME.

The "LOGIK" brand is cr*p. Hate it when people lump sinotec and all that other rubbish in the same categories.
 
yeah im not sure about full hd gaming on the sinotec....i am thinking of getting a 32' full hd Samsung/Sony etc when the price is real good and then move the Sinotec to the lounge.

but im gonna hook up a friends PS3 this wkend and judge....:)
what do you guys think of HISENSE? those ads on tv are pretty good :p....120hz full hd....but its HISENSE
 
from what i've seen and experienced, yes. GAME have Sinotec as well. Your best bet is to go down there and have a look at the picture quality yourself on the demo models. The advantage is that you can compare the picture side by side with other brands and make your decision.

Don't opt for one until you are absolutely satisfied that it can give you what you want. Trust me, there are Full HDTVs out there that can do the very same job as the high end brands, for much cheaper. All it takes is for you to compare the picture quality, brand guarentees and price to suit you.

wasn't taking a dig at Sinotec there, just giving my opinion based on what i'd seen for myself. I too went to have a look at the Sinotec, opted for a Bravia instead, abeit, smaller screen. I found the Sinotec although a FULL HDTV displaying 1080p, failed to deliver a comfortable frame rate as well as being much lower in resolution (on screen) to the other HDTVs around it.

being a Sinotec owner i think this is fair.
whilst i was at Game and they had the Samsungs/Sony's next to the Sinotec on an hd signal. the picture quality was so similar and i this is what made me go for the sinotec. i just think it falls short in the gaming department....
the 60hz issue comes into play here for alot of games :confused:
HD Content and hdtv shows looks stunning.... and as a monitor like Keeper said - its perfect.
 
Would Logik be better for gaming?
or even HISENSE??
 
i have the LOGIK 37FHD has a 5ms response time and performs just as well as my Bravia. I wouldnt say it's better, but picture quality wise, you'd have to be really really picky and fussy to notice a real difference on say a ps3 with HDMI connected.
 
the new HISENSE range with 120hz looks good too. not entirely sure to be honest.
 
maybe for a 32, yes - I was thinking of a 42" - not a few hundred bucks difference there

edit: and to the person that told me all samsung 32" LCD's are fullHD - the one in merc's add is a measly 1366 x 768 resolution

I cannot repeat this often enough - if you're gonna use it for a PC, your samsung is gonna suck balls against a Sinotec if it's not FullHD.
Get FullHD for PC!

Ok, so what would you guys recommend for a media center / gaming screen- budget: about R8000

Obviously i'll need an FULL HD LCD.

so far seems like 42" Sinotec is perfect (Just wish game would have the R6999 spacial again!)
 
bar1 - we need another poster to share his experience on the 42' gaming wise.
i sort of had a decent experience but i was playing on a kind of faulty Xbox so i dont know if that GPU on it could of caused alot of the issues i was noticing. GTA IV looked shocking.... it looked like a 2001/2 game...i dont know. but Dead Space was amazing.

It also depends on what games you deciding to get. i am gonna test my friends fully functional PS3 out this wkend on the Sinotec and i will let you know how it looks
