Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

I'm going to buy 1 in December. I want either the PS50B430, the PS50B450 or the PS50B550 (if its under 15K). The PS50B430 also has a 100Hz processor. What is the difference between your one and these with a B in the model number?

My wife wanted to get the LG 50" plazma yesterday at Game for R12999. I had to convince her that its a bad idea to let a furniture removals company courier it from Port Edward to Cape Town. That LG didn't feel too stable on the stand. How stable is the Samsung 50" Plazmas?
 
Samsung's stand is very stable and the swivel is very user friendly and easy to attach. The sets are aesthetically very easy on the eye too..

Not sure what the difference between the A and B sets is other than the B sets are more recent than the A variants. I may be wrong on this though.

I have a 42" Sammy plasma in the room and it's the PS42B430, 100Hz, mega contrast and 0.001ms response time (not that anyone other than a computer could verify that response time).

The 50" Sammy PS50A410 is 30,000:1 contrast, 50Hz processor and around 5ms response time so less impressive technology but it's impossible to tell the difference.. Seriously there is no conceivable difference in picture quality between the 2...

Both are HD Ready as opposed to Full HD, the 50" resolution 1388 x 768 and the 42" 1024 x 768... 50" R11999-00 42" R8499-00...

Full HD not essential unless you gaming or running a pc on the set...

ey sorry sandman but maybe im doff but which one is VGA? what i have at home now is a cable that runs from my laptop to the sinotec but that seems to be a video cable only as i dont get sound.but im sure i bought a VGA cable :confused:
Its the same input/output as a desktop monitor if that makes anymore sense

that there looks like audio Left+right RCA cables ?

matt - if it's the blue one with 15 (i think) pins, that fits into a computer screen it's definitely a VGA cable.

3.5mm headphone jack to RCA...

ok i got one of those audio cables from game.its a cable that goes into the earphone jack on my laptop and then it converts to 2 of those 'av' jacks (one red - one black)

yeah bud thats the one - do you know which ports im meant to plug it into so i can control volume from my tv? i tried a whole lotta combinations but none of them would produce audio (and the mute button was Definetely not on :p ).

Keeper - yeah its the 15 pin VGA. isnt VGA video only? thats what i thought

B models are 2009, A models are 2008. Have a look at the Australian sight. It has more models on it although we do have most of them here.

It's not entirely on topic with regards to LCD, but my LG DVD Home Theatre system recently stopped reading discs for the x'th time. Sadly though, it is out of warranty now so I took it to a local repair shop. As I walked in the guy started laughing, he guessed my problem before I could state it. So, I opted out of paying 1.2k to fix it and have yet to decide what to do. We got into a discussion though and he recons Sinotec is about the best brand you can buy these days (along with Pioneer and Philips if I recall correctly).
According to him, LG & Samsung are the worst.

Maybe someone here knows a little more?
 
i got a small Samsung home theatre type system with a 5 disc DVD shuttle etc a few years back... the shuttle tray stopped coming out after 6 months or so and so was useless as an entertainment system..

I would say samsung are great for tv's, but rather get other audio related equipment from those specific specialists..

+1 my little samsung crt tv is still going strong - can't say so much for the other samsung stuff...(loads of samsung stuff)
 
hey Keeper,sandman - so do you know whats the best option to get sound to play through the Sinotec speakers...its just a damn pain having to get up everytime someone shoots or action happens in a movie :p

I would have thought AV1 audio in would have worked, AV1 on the Sinotec RCA's Audio in.... So head 3.5mm head phone jack plugged into head phone socket on laptop and RCA's into AV1 Audio inputs on Sinotec...

Having said that a standard vga to vga cable would also work...
 
vga includes sound aswell? mine only has video... eish.
ok if use the audio jack into the laptop and run it to AV1 audio i obviously have to have the tv set to av1?
damn maybe the cable is a dud or something - man i was trying all diffrenet combinations last night.guess you cant have it all :p

HDMI can include audio, I've never known VGA to include audio :confused:

On the 47" model there is a VGA connector and audio connectors together, which the manual calls D-Sub connectors. Look in your manual if you have the same.

I have the same setup, where I plug the laptop into the VGA for video and the audio goes via the laptop's 3.5mm headphone jack to the RCA jacks. Works perfectly.
 
lol ginglung yeah i never knew VGA to carry audio either?

the thing is i tried the 3.5 headphone with every combination on the tv.switched it to AV and VGA but obviously i wanna watch on VGA like you and have sound through the tv via RCA jacks.il check at home tonight for those D-sub connectors
