Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

That Sinotec at R9700 was on special 2 weeks ago for R11999-00 and prior to that it was going for around R14k so it's a ducking bargain, seriously, they practically giving them away and according to Kaveen (GM Sinotec) those 47" Sinotecs are fitted with LG's A+++ Panels... and you can quote me on that..

It's seriously never a good time to buy hardware cause the prices keep on coming down and down and down...

I almost took my Samsung 42" Plasma back to Makro yesterday to exchange it for the Sinotec 47" but it's the 3rd time I would be returning a set although the last time was for a technical error on the Samsung and I ended up keeping it...

Anyone want to buy my Plasma R10k, 2 weeks old with 4 year warranty (1 year Samsung, 3 years Makrosure)????

i can't imagine what it's gonna cost in 3 months, on a good makro special, when you ask game to lower it....

Game only gives 10% of the difference lower. So if game got it for R9000 and Makro got it for R8000 then you can get it for R7900 from Game. 8000-10%x(9000-8000)= R7900. Not much of a difference and not sure if they got the same 5 year warranty :/
 
oh no that's no good - makro seems to be the better choice then.

although, i've heard of a few people on these threads that scored much more though... if you're prepared to haggle(is that what they call it?) over prices...

sandman why did you want to swap the samsung for a sinotec :confused: and aren't these guys tired of you opening up their boxes all the time :D:D
 
haha, Keeper yeah I tell you what the guys at Makro Germiston are excellent!!!! Never any questions or grumbles from them when they see me coming (maybe they reserve it for when I leave).

The Samsung's picture does funny flickering things when I select 1080i either on the HD PVR or my HDMI DVD player. Took it back on friday and they tested the set on a bluray, played beautifully so I returned home with my set and my tail between my legs.

I reckon I would take that 47" Sinotec over the 42" HD ready Sammy but alas it's too late now and I must live with my decisions and stop chasing the proverbial next best thing...

At the bottom on every box are plastic plugs, 2 on either side, you remove the plugs and the top of the box comes off, nothing gets broken, very neat...

dude plasma's are much better than LCD for TV use - I reckon you need to sort out your players, look around at the settings or start a thread?

if makro could do it properly, its not your samsung...

I know it's not the the set nor is it a setting or a cable, it's very odd. I think the Sammy is a bit temperamental when it comes to the source material.

Look I am loving it big time but a full HD LCD would be better, all 47" of her:) Size counts meneer...:)
 
Oh I agree with you on the size, but plasma's just fix a lot of the problems LCD's have when displaying SD content (Read "SA TV") like no upscalling loss of quality (as it's 720p native) and motion blur. the blacks are also blacker.

anyway, if the TV and Cable is fine, it MUST be a setting - probably on your player (as your settings on the TV was the same when you went to makro, the only thing that changed was the player)

I reckon you go to the Player's website, and ask for technical support - tell them another player works fine but theirs doesn't.

i mean, you're not gonna keep it like that are you?
 
The flickering occurs on 2 different inputting components IE HD PVR and DVD player when I select 1080i output on either of the 2 components.

When tested at Makro the output setting on the bluray player was both 1080/24p and 1080i and bothed played flawlessly so.... No idea why/what/how...

When I select 720p everything plays magnificently, SD is s h i t, so s h i t, even on plasma but I guess that's after watching HD. The difference is HUGE, I battle to watch anything on any other channel now other than HD channel. Cannot wait for more HD channels but won't benefit from 1080p with my HD ready tools... Some say Multichoice don't have the infrastructure to transmit 1080p and won't have it for at least the next 5 years.... so..... duck it...
 
can someone help me please.

ok i got one of those audio cables from game.its a cable that goes into the earphone jack on my laptop and then it converts to 2 of those 'av' jacks (one red - one black).now ive tried plugging in every socket of the sinotec at the back but still no audio comes through.am i doing something silly ,probably.am i meant to setup anything on my laptop.
so basically its the earphone jack that im plugging into and then running it to the tv.the whole point of this is that i dont have to get up and control the audio on my pc but rather through the sinotec.any help :)
 
I assume you are using VGA on the TV, you dont need a conversion cable. The TV has a earphone type audio port at the back for the VGA audio
 
I was at Makro on Saturday and my gawd... the 50" Sammy plasma was the best of the lot. Quality was absolutely stunning *drool*

Didn't get the model number, but it was being displayed just to the left of the entrance, right in the corner. They put some TVs there on display. It was either R11999 or R12999.
 
Yes thats the one. I will get the PS50B430 when I move back to Cape Town in December. Is there a PS50B450 out or just the PS50B550?

If you connect the rca's to the AV1 audio inputs on the Sinotec you need to select AV1 source on the tv for there to be sound.
 
I got my PS50A410 for R11999-00, HD Ready 50" Sammy plasma.... Love it...

There is a PS50A450 that is also HD Ready but has 100Hz processor and 0.001ms response time... Also Dynamic contrast 2000,000:1...
