Makro Sinotec Full HD Special

I think Sinotec gives most the opportunity to own a monster sized set (42") at a reasonable price and maintenance free for 5 years.

It's really a very safe buy and as fas as bang for buck is concerned no one can really compete.

Having said that Games R8k Samsung Plasma, the PS42B430 is an outstanding offer!!! Really excellent value for a very nice set...

Speak to the salespeople at Makro, they'll probably drop the price for you to the special price if you wanna get it now.
 
Contrast

So I went to Game to check out the sinotech 42" LCD. It was displayed on the far right with Logic, Samsung, LG and Sony LCD to the left.

The other screens were comparable, with the Logic's brightness too high and the sinotech's brightness too low.

Now I know about the contrast ratio of the sinotech, but can it go up from looking faded. Like when you set your laptop or cellphone to 50% brightness. That sort of faded.

Does the 47" have better specs than the 42"?
 
seriously though, anyone have any experience with the LG 42" on special at game as well? 11000k for a full HD LCD aint bad at all, model number is 42LH35..
 
Dunno about their tv's but their dvd recorders are shocking... That's been enough for me, I am put off LG for life...
 
ok, dont know if this has been discussed as well, but what about the 40" s series at makro for 10500? full hd as well.. 33000:1 contrast, bravia 2 engine

you can certainly not go wrong with that man!

i'd still say the 50" sammy plasma for R8500 or whatever is still an even better deal, especially for TV use.
 
i am gonna use it for tv, ps3 and maybe some pc related stuff as well, but most likely more tv than anything..
 
go for the sammy plasma then IMO - you save R2000, for you to spend on that new "lawn mower" you've always wanted, heh, and 10 bladdy inches bigger! (that's a HUGE improvement, trust me, don't think 10 inches isn't a lot - remember, it's vertically measured inches)

the plasma is also gonna look better than the LCD, even over a FullHD LCD. (remember, the highest SA's got is 720p on DSTV HD channel, which is the native resolution on the plasma)

for pc use it's gonna suck badly though.....seriously....



PS: you may replace "lawn mower" with anything to the value of R2000.

That was the Sammy 42" on special at Game for R8k. The 50" was R11999-00 on special at Makro.

Game have the LG's on special this week... Damn they expensive even when on special compared to what the Samsungs were going for.

sorry, my mistake...dunno why I thought the 50" was that much.

42" is still quite big though :p

mmm good value at R9k but game had the B430 for R8k just last week, superb value.

Other than the model number and the extra HDMI port on the side of the set what's the difference between the 430 and 450?

Oh I see there's an HDMI output too. Handy...
 
i see the 47" sinotech full hd is on special now for 9799... it only has 6.5ms response time though, would that be noticeable watching sports or playing ps3? I know that 2ms is ideal, but for that price, its even better value than the 42" if u ask me
 
I'll be upgrading my Samsung 32" HD Ready LCD TV to the 47" Sinotech Full HD LCD TV in December.

Does anyone here who's got a Full HD Sinotech have any problems using the HDMI to connect to a PC. It will be my primary PC screen as the Samsung is at the moment. I cant use the HDMI with my Samsung as there is some scaling done as the resolution is 1366x768 and not 1280x720. So I've got to use a VGA cable which has some ghosting if you look closely. With Full HD, 1920x1080 I believe there should be no problem using the HDMI cable?
 
HDMI, no problem

I bought the 47" Yesterday from Macro and found a DVI to HDMI cable in Century City Computer Mania...Macro might have them too, but I didn't check.

Nvidia 9800
1xDVI to my 22" Samsung.
1xDVI to HDMI to my 47" Sonitec

Picture is crisp and clear and no ghosting what so ever when gaming or PC movie. The only problem I have is that when in full HDMI 1080p then the desktop seems to be bigger than the screen. When I maximize a window while on full resolution, the top blue header part of a window maximizes out of the screen. I have not found a workaround for this yet other than to reduce the resolution.
I'm also unable to crop or adjust the TV screen the same way you would do a computer LCD screen by resizing the desktop to fit into the screen.
