Loving Mass Effect, running perfectly, so far no crashes.. played the whole weekend 
I just don't really enjoy the planet landing thing with the buggy/car effort-thing.. it's like a really bad, 3D version of Moon Patrol on LSD.

i hated RPG's
other than Deus EX and Stalker.... i bought this game as i finished GTA and had no games. only to find that i played for 10 hours the past weekend, which is alot for me.
Looks brilliant. running it maxxed out. one of the best looking games, with visual depth of all the planets. compelling story, so much so that i chose to sit thruogh as much conversations as possible. The gunfights isnt great, but then its still very good for an RPG. the driving sucks bollocks tho

I can just barely run it on my rig ... technically speaking its completely under spec ... but it runs ... and I'm not suffering any crashes ... yet

Excellent game - seriously hampering my study time!

I just finished the game under 22 hours and am quite disappointed. I did most of the assignments except those artifact collection fedex quests. Honestly, I was expecting to spend +40 hours of epic immersive storyline. I set the game play to hard and switched off target assist so heaven knows I'd probably fly through the game on default setting.
My main complaint is the the whole "save the galaxy from an ancient evil" cliche. Bothe the main storyline and subplots are bland. At first, I got excited by the fact that there were only 6 companions to choose from, judgeing from previous RPGs i.e. NWN2, there were too many choice of companions and each lacking content/quality. In mass effect, the few companions availible all lacked content. Hell, there are'nt even any companion sub quests to resolve.
The ending was too Kotorish, felt like starforge battle - part 2. Did Bioware really think the huge battle scene with capital ships and fireworks in the ending
will make up for the game?
Don't believe the ratings on wikipedia, this game is not in the same league as Kotor, Baldur's gate, PT, vampire TM. It's fun for the first 5 hours or so but when the suspense fades, it's all downhill from there. I rate this game at most 5/10.

Whoa, I've got about 14 hours, and I think I've barely scratched the surface, I've only done one main quest mission since leaving the citadel.
So far I'm enjoying it immensely.

Well ... someone was guaranteed not to like it ....
I did about 30 hours of gameplay on the xbox ... and I took my time with it - I explored as much as I could to discover everything I could ... and I still missed things.
I'd rate Mass Effect above KOTOR - quite simply because there was more of it. Combat is also much better - relying on your skill rather than simply roll of the dice.
All that said ... I think I ran into my first glitch last night ... game bombed on me

.... thing is the older im getting the games i buy i end up playing them for five minutes and not again ... i get bored quickly ... mass effect i actually completed and its one verrrrry good game .... if you doubting getting it, it a must have game, get it, it money well spent ... good story ... its just good ... so to the poster that said it sucked ... i think not!

I think I've clocked up 22 hours and the only 'main quest' item after the citadel I've done is finding the Asari Very much enjoying it now, no more crashes since I dropped the overclock on my video card.
