Mbeki asked to step down

Unfortunately reality is that the vast majority of people in South Africa will vote ANC irrelevant of what happens. Kinda like the situation with Zanu PF. For some reason Africa is enamored with its liberation movements... even when said movements ask them to bend over.

Very true unfortunately:mad:

What we are hoping for (and a guy I was speaking to the other night confirmed this) is that apathy will be at an all time high and ANC voters just won't vote. That is why it is important now for the opposition turn out to be at an all time high.

I think you're in for a real shocker. This will be an even bigger win for the anc, thanks to the pathetic Mbeki.Mbeki has no support, nothing. Those that supported him and still(for now) was bought with jobs, take that away and there is no reason anymore to support him.The best time for opposition to get votes was actually during the tbone era.Now Zuma sparked the party again, for many it will feels like '94.The desire to vote is back.

We will see ;)

ANC recalls Mbeki, moves to 'heal rift'

This isn't a bad thing!

This action could split the ANC or, at the very least, create huge voter apathy towards the ANC. This will result in more votes for the opposition! When elections come around again, GO VOTE EVERYONE!

If only !!!
You're talking about the voters that have no problem voting for JZ inspite of his total lack of moral fibre.

ANC recalls Mbeki, moves to 'heal rift'
M&G

The African National Congress (ANC) said on Saturday it had decided to recall President Thabo Mbeki before the end of his term next year, a move that could collapse the government and prompt early elections.

Mbeki has been mired in accusations that he conspired to undermine ANC leader Jacob Zuma.

Wow, twenty years since the National Party asked PW Botha to resign because the pace of reform in the Nation was not fast enough. Now the ANC asks Mbeki to resign for similar reasons. Except now we are going to see "the pace of reform" at a breakneck speed.

Now that really scares the hell out of me. Bugger the "NWO" and the financial implosion we will see soon, that scares me more.

Power to the people, trial run was Xenophobia, ...

The ANC did what is best for itself and this country, to seek stability.

I personally think that the ANC will have a landslide win of over 80%+ due to the millions of white people who opted to leave this country, and who gets left behind in their millions? So whatever chance of making any difference, in terms of halving the political power the ANC has, is gone.

ANC is here to stay, in essence.

I don't know. 40% still seems like a large support base. Those that support him may not vote, those that feel the ANC is doing nothing useful may not vote. The promise of freedom in the land of milk and honey is gone for many supporters - they may never vote for anyone else, but they also might just not vote at all.

And people with your attitude are the cause of it. "No point in voting, they'll win anyway": if no one votes they win 100% of the vote :/

He already supports them tim. No point in encouraging him further....

Or they might just be swept up to vote for the right party by certain militant youth movements. Dancing is just so much fun, don't you think?

Even my friend who is an ANC member is worried. That makes me very worried! Rand will drop and fuel/food prices will go through the roof according . And he told me that elections will be held in January.

Thats a very different type of scenario you propose there. Lets just hope you're being alarmist and this doesn't actually happen; though I've heard of people being shipped to Maritzburg to support Zuma without their permission.

The bottom line..is anyone surprised? They have made up their mind that Zuma is president...no one will stand in their way. The gravy train is on the way to becoming the gravy plane, and boy is it full of gravy

Strange that a man that put forward his Zulu's culture heritage can have the support of Sothos, Ndebeles and part of Xhosas.
