Good afternoon gents, apologies about the post that already been posted, as I'm a new owner of the Mecer 2400VA Inverter and I just purchased it over the weekend with 1 trojan deep cycle battery 2nd hand. It was working fine on Saturday and Sunday night until last night i tried to reposition it and I connected a Clearline surge protector and sparked!. MY bad!, I disconnected it and noticed that if I switch it on just goes into fault mode as soon as AC power is removed and beeps. Any solutions how to resolve this? or do I have to send it in for repairs.
It uses 2 batteries, you say you bought 1 Trojan battery?

Probably a dumb question, but are you sure it's the 2400VA? If so, you need two 12V batteries in series.

@RedViking Maybe time for new glasses?

24V system on a 12V battery?
Nope no problems here..

No, no no such thing as a dumb question @Vuilhaas, yes its on one battery and if it disconnected from the AC it goes to the 0, the fault icon comes on, red light and beeps, and connected a fan to test the load and does not come on at the back on.

check your battery terminals and cables, you might have a short some where

Do you use this with the Mecer 2400VA inverter? Could you maybe help me with a simple wiring diagramme please. Thanks
No, I use it with my Pure Sine Wave inverter but it works with any inverter. It is properly labelled so there's no confusion as far as connection is concerned, there's a solar icon on the solar terminals and polarity is properly indicated, same thing for the battery, it can detect which system you are using based on the battery input because it is for the 12V and 24V systems.

Just note the inverter is connected in parallel with the battery and not on the "Load", that looks to be just an auxiliary 12V output. Don't forget the protection and/or breakers as shown.

Ok thanks for the pictures. You've got the 1200VA version so it is correct to only have one battery. Further than that, not sure what the problem is. Sorry

Ok 1200 va with 1 x T1275 (150aH 12v) is right. (Went to look at pics)

When you moved the unit is there a possibility that + and - connectors on the Mercer side bridged, cause that could cause the exact problem you describe.

Its possible that a bridged connection could have blown something inside.

It was working fine yesterday and works fine with the fan as I'm using it to test for now. The problem is when I disconnect the AC power the red light and beeping occurs and the fan stops and and indicates 0 on the screen.

If i push the button in and then the unit resets and the sound goes off.

I opened the unit with many tiny screws and checked the 4 fuses 4X 40 fuses and seemed fine.

Not sure what sure the problem is ? and read the forums? are there any solutions or recommendation to how i can resolve this ?

Good news @Jash GP is that at least it isnt blown up. It might just be something small wrong inside like a blown fuse. There are 4 internal blade fuses on the 2400VA model, not sure how many are inside the 1200VA version that you have.

Our 2400VA models have a Reset button at the back of the case, Check yours when powered on

Sounds like your battery is kak
Seen as you have the 1200VA version can you do a check with your car battery as a test? To at least rule out the possibility that there is nothing wrong with the inverter?

Swap out the Trojan for a healthy car battery as a test

Looks like your battery is dodgy.

Personally I doubt its the battery as the unit gets a % load reading, for me it sounds like something in the inverter.

If I understand it right:
AC - inverter - AC works
AC - Inverter - DC works? <-- need a Volt meter to confirm?
DC - Inverter - AC doesn't work

So something inside the inverter that converts DC to AC is gone bye bye?

I have reset the button, not doing anything, push and nothing. I have tested the battery and with a multimeter and got 17.70. The battery seems fine, however, the problem still persists on as red light, beeping sound and does not power the fan when I pull out the AC mains power.

It's worth a try to at least eliminate at the cheapest costs, use what you have for free
