Meta Quest 3 local availability

Ja basically the same - I got one from Takealot.
Edit: This one - technically for the Quest2, but I saw on reddit folks were saying the Q2's fits on the Q3 - which it does.

The silicon causes the sweat for me, while without I don't. More comfortable for me to have a few cloths at hand for a wipedown as soon as I start heating up or after each song in the case of beatsaber.

Standing outside also helps a lot with the humidity and perspiration quickly dissipates.
Hopefully you find the silicon cover more bearable than me as that's certainly the easiest to take off for a clean.

I prefer the silicone cover. It can get sweaty but it doesn't soak up sweat, the default cloth ones do.

Ordered mine on 24 Nov at amazon UK and the expected delivery date is 1 Dec which is pretty quick. Also ordered some silicon face covers for the hot summer.
Ordered 16 November, arrived today, ETA was 7 December. Have never paid for expedited shipping as orders always arrive well before ETA. Amazon never fails to impress.

Anyone using 3rd party head straps? Had the Elite strap for the MQ2 which was not bad at all. Curious to see how the Binbok fairs.

Aramex is like that. Very unpredictable. Expedited you know you will get it within 10 days

I've done extensive research on straps as I really want to buy one, but having looked at every discussion on the oculus subreddit I've decided to wait.

There are many:

Aubika
Kiwi
Bobo
AMVR
etc

There isn't one that actually has batteries with enough output just yet, other than the elite strap which is ridiculously priced.

Paid $54 dollars for the BinBok. Out of the bunch it seems like the better one, excluding Elite strap of course. Hear you on power delivery, but there seems to be a work around with reported buzzing on these repurposed straps.

Ja you should charge the headset above 80%, then if you connect the strap battery it won't buzz as the lithium is less hungry / charges slower when nearing full charge.

Hopefully you guys didn't buy the official elite battery strap for the quest 3: https://www.roadtovr.com/quest-3-elite-battery-strap-pause/
Fortunately not - if I need extra power while gaming, I have 30w / 30 000mah Romoss powerbank that I can carry on a belt and clip the power cord onto the side of the headset with velcro or cable ties. But my typical VR sessions aren't usually longer than 2 hours at a time anyway, so I've only needed extra power once or twice.

Steam has just released their free native Steam Link app to the Meta store, as competition to Virtual Desktop and Airlink. It's quite slick and has tons of options to enhance and improve VR wireless streaming performance. To my eyes Virtual Desktop with its upscaling and sharpening features look a bit better, but theoretically Steam has the capability to adapt and change bitrate and graphical quality on the fly to keep gameplay smooth.

Got my quest 3 this morning. I have to say I'm impressed with this headset. It does get hot quickly which sucks to use in this extremely hot weather.
The controllers are a game changer for me when playing beatsaber, so much lighter and I dont have to worry about accidentally bumping my controllers and also the pancake lenses makes the viewing experience much better.
The silicon face cover I bought fits really well, it feels soft and not sticky

Is the storage, 128gb vs 512gb important? Imagine games installed to the headset directly if used on it's own, but if running with PC, do I still need the extra space?
Difference in the 2 versions are about R3500. Wondering if 128gb is sufficient, considering it will be in the games/PC room anyway?

Get the cheapest one. You will use airlink or similar or a cable to play. Spend money on accessories, not on storage

Have any of you guys played Asgard's wrath 2? I'm 2 hours in and oh man this game is amazing. This is probably the first AAA game I've played in VR even though I have half life alyx on my steam account and never bothered to play it  now I know what game to play next.

Thoroughly impressed. AW2 had my jaw dropping. Anyone managed to get XBOX Game Pass running? See it is region locked for now. VPN would probably defeat object being a cloud streaming service. The Binbok Elite strap meets and exceeds my expectations.

We won't get xbox game pass cloud here in South Africa, that's also the reason we pay less for ultimate.
It is possible to stream from your own console Xbox and PlayStation by side-loading the appropriate apps.
Think it might be possible to get Geforce now working though as a cloud solution.

That old lady with the hanging pair though, could of used a bra.

BTW bought this silicone cover in the interim. Its for the MQ2 but fits ok, might give it a snip to relieve some bunching around perimeter. Otherwise no issues with it.

So it seems that Meta unfortunately isn't going to be releasing the Quest 3 in SA officially, but there's at least one local retailer that has it for pre-order :

Pricing doesn't look too outrageous but only time will tell whether it remains as-is. Failing that, I suppose one could always order through Amazon and it might even work out cheaper that way.

So I wanna order the Quest 3 for my birthday in June and I saw that Amazon would be the cheapest in Rands, but I'm not sure about ordering it on there especially because it would be my first time and if it didn't arrive it'd be R14 000 down the drain and I don't wanna get in trouble with my dad so I just wanna ask can I order on there and would it actually arrive here in SA?
