Metrofibre Feedback

Which ISP are you using on the MFN Network?

Does anybody know roughly how long the testing phase lasts for MFN after the rollout just before the area officially goes live? I assume it probably varies quite a bit depending on what issues they may run into, but I'd just like to have a rough idea of how long this process typically lasts. Thanks.
In our suburb, trenching went on for ~6 months and testing ~3 months.

How long does it typically take for Metrofibre to complete an install? I' ve had my Termination Point installed in Feb during the build-phase. The area went live in early April and my ISP, Axxess, confirmed my pre-order. Got my router early the next week and waiting for Metrofibre to complete the install. Axxess is sending me an email every 2 weeks to say they haven't forgotten about me. I've been waiting almost 5 weeks from placing the order. Should I just be patient?

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please DM me your account details and I'll investigate the matter for you. Thanks :)

And I'm still waiting for feedback from Axxess. Even after opening a ticket and emailing the lines department directly (2 ticket nos). No feedback from @Captain Axxess yet. You might say I'm impatient, but I've been waiting for MORE THAN 5 WEEKS. No communications whatsoever. If I knew what was going on I might be more patient. If this continues I will cancel my order from Axxess.

So can anyone tell me how MFN is?
In terms of speed. If I go with their 200/200, can I expect that speed at all times throughout the day? Does their network get congested?
Who here is downloading 1-2TB+?

When it comes to data I don't play around.

I think the 200/200 Metro line for me is just as stable as my Openserve fibre line. Perfect connection right through loadshedding with the UPS.

I have canceled my order with Axxess for pathetic service, after 5 weeks all, and the only thing, they can come up with is "I have one of the members of our lines team liaising with the upstream provider (MetroFibre) to resolve the matter". They also charged me an R999 early cancelation fee but the line wasn't even installed yet. I hope they at least have the decency to pay back my R999. People around me using different ISPs on MetroFibre have already got their service up or at least have their installation partially(mostly) completed. If there was an issue with the order why don't they tell me ? That shouldn't take 5 weeks. At least give me feedback. I'm done with them.

Yes i can tell you its fine if you use a cable to the router. Their routers are shyte.
I had about 3 major outages in the last 6 months, but was resolved, although i had to fight and threaten.

Which router did they give you?

The more I'm hearing the more encouraged I am to get MFN. They support IPv6 already, it's going to cost me R300 extra for an extra 100Mbps download and 200Mbps upload, and the cherry on top of the cake they don't seem to have routing issues (60 days and counting of Openserve routing issues).

How long did the installation take?

Access build is probably about a week or so. If you have TP already then a couple of days.

Honestly I don't notice a difference between Openserve and Metro for me.

Metro is experiencing some challenges in the new areas like PTA North, DoringKloof, PvR and in KZN in PMZ. The rest of the areas are pretty decent.

@cavedog Is there any specific issues in the newer areas or is it the general installation issues like Hook mentioned above?

Sometimes the area is marked live but a few streets or section is not. It's not a common issue but I've helped @Hook out I'm sure he will be sorted now. ;)

My neighbours have MFN so we know that’s sorted but my main concern is the trenching and the pavement. If I can find a solution to that I’ll apply right now for a 300/300 service
