Which ISP are you using on the MFN Network?

Hi, has anyone heard anything about a speed upgrade given all the other providers are decreasing price/increasing speeds?

I queried with MFN this morning. This was their response.

Hi Phil Lee
Thank you for the comment, kindly note we are currently not cutting any prices,
Should we have any promotions or specials we will sent out communication but at the moment
We do not have any price cuts.
Should you have any question, don’t hesitate to let us know.
Kind Regards

Hey guys, I purchased an ASUS AC750 router to use instead of the Calix 844E as I found the Calix's QoS isn't up to scratch.

So far, it's working well. All one has to do is put the PPPoE details in & it works.

I am asking MFN & ISP's on the MFN network about the plausibility of giving you the PPPoE details when one swaps ISP's. I know your line rental is covered in the fee you pay the ISP.

Will update when I have feedback.

Does anybody know roughly how long the testing phase lasts for MFN after the rollout just before the area officially goes live? I assume it probably varies quite a bit depending on what issues they may run into, but I'd just like to have a rough idea of how long this process typically lasts. Thanks.

Does anyone know where MFN are doing their rollout? I see there's been some trenching done on Florida road in dbn. I'm like one road away but cannot for the life of me get anyone to consider putting fibre in my road

They took around 3 weeks for my estate.

I'm in Howick. Our fibre was meant to go live today but apparently its next week all of a sudden. Slightly bummed, but eh I've waited this long. and my current connection works fine.

How did you manage to get an ETA in the first place? I've been asking Metrofibre regularly for a rough ETA and always just get told that it's not possible for them to give me one and that I must essentially just wait for the area to go live.

We have a community WhatsApp group and the local MFN rep posts updates there

MFN is available within a month or 2 in my area, but I see they're still on the old pricing. No ways am I paying R1200 for a 100mbps line.

R999 or GTFO. Though I do prefer 200mbps for R1099 like Openserve.

My rain is still giving me 400mbps for months now. So unless MFN decreases prices I don't see the point. Just like Vumatel it seems

I just wish they would update their coverage map. Guys dug up my road last week, I wonder how long it will take for it to go live

Don't hold your breath. If their rollout goes smoothly then I guess you can hope for something like 3 months before it goes live. They dug past our road in December last year and we are forecast to go live in June this year.

My area went live during the week I posted this. Now I'm just waiting for my (teeny-tiny) ISP to get back to me after negotiating with MFN, which they have been doing for at least a month now.....
