Metrofibre Feedback

Which ISP are you using on the MFN Network?

Sometimes the area is marked live but a few streets or section is not. It's not a common issue but I've helped @Hook out I'm sure he will be sorted now. ;)
We have MFN here (as you know) but I'm not entirely convinced about the quality of their KZN network.

Also the fact that I'm in a complex that is already pretty much all Openserve I doubt they would allow MFN to trench.

But with all these routing headaches Openserve is giving I might consider instead looking at an area with MFN or Vuma Villages when I move.

So can anyone tell me how MFN is?
In terms of speed. If I go with their 200/200, can I expect that speed at all times throughout the day? Does their network get congested?
Who here is downloading 1-2TB+?
In my experience, I get 95%-100% of the speed I am paying for 24/7. There was the occasional hiccup a while back where there were network outages almost weekly, but it hasn't happened again in the past few months. Currently on 100/100 and getting free speed increase in June to 200/200.

Were these hiccups due to the network being new and having just been rolled out to your area?

I don't think so, as there were complaints from far and wide, not only the newly rolled out area. The only info we ever received was that there was a general problem and it was being attended to. Once it was up, there was no detail provided of what the root cause was...

As everyone knows I canceled my fibre order with Axxess on Monday night because after 5 weeks of waiting after placing my order, all they could come up with is that they are waiting for Metrofibre for feedback.
I also placed an order with a different ISP on Monday night. Today Metrofibre came to install my ONT. So in 2 days the new ISP could do what Axxess couldn't do in 5 weeks. There is still some issues with the fibre and the technician placed a repair order with Metrofibre, but that should be sorted in a few days. And also Axxess wanted R999 from me for early cancelation after not even doing anything.

Unacceptable that Axxess is charging a cancellation fee for a service that was never rendered.
Axxess is in breach of the contract you had between them, as they did not render the needed service to you even if they are not at fault.
If they did render any service to you, then they can impose a reasonable penalty.
I wonder what the ISPA would say if they hear about this.

Have just recently joined the club with 100 mbps up/down with Mind The Speed. So far every one of my expectations have at the very least been met and some even exceeded. Hopefully I don't suffer too many new-area-problems in the weeks to come, but otherwise first impressions have been excellent!

There were hiccups in Durban for MFN, and Zoom. Speaking to the guys a few if them was due to it being a new network, but there were a few in older MFN builds, so who knows

I was having an issue this morning, got Afrihost to log the fault.

See now there is a major Metrofibre outage in Gauteng :(

We are seeing service return. Please restart your router to see if the connection is restored now?

Just had the guys coming to lay the last mile at my house. All went pretty well and done within 2 and a half hours. Only issue now is post ONT install the Service light is not lighting up - any ideas if I might be missing something like an activation etc? ISP is Afrihost.

Guy did say that he would be back on Monday to check it out again, as even the support don't know whats up for now.

Also submitted my order via Afrihost on 19th May, guys processed and the installer pitches up on 22nd May and completes install. Took my 1.5 months with RSAWeb, to start processing my order, only to be told at the end of that period that my order first name does not match my ID first name.. Told them to please cancel if that is the rubbish service I'm going to get. Mind is literally blown with Afrihost/MFN since Wednesday..

What ONT do you have? I have the Nokia ONT. In my case I have a flashing red LED that means there is no signal, no light in the fibre. When the red LED goes of it then means there is signal and the green PON LED starts flashing. That means there is fibre service but still needs to be activated. When the ISP activates the service that green PON LED stop flashing and stays constant green. As I said, this is my case, your ONT might differ.

There’s my MFN (don’t know what’s going on there)

There’s my Openserve (Power and PON solid with LAN1 flickering)

Activations take up to 3 days after the install.

We don't have a service delivery manager available on calls over the weekend for me to call and have you activated.

If you can drop me a pm with your fsan number of the ONT and your clientzone email address so I can try and get it activated for you.
