Nothing is changing, they are simply allowing more customisation and designing live tiles to behave unique to set them apart and even this can be customised.

People are getting strange conclusion.

those pics seem odd, ones a dark theme the others a light theme. i can do that right now.

would be great if they stopped messing around with the ui so people can get used to it.

mullets.

it amazes me that the start menu continues to be a thing in the windows land

i hardly use it in windows 10 (or its equivalent in macos or whatever linux distro i am no)

Don't know if it was jokes.
10 is the only Windows edition for the future from Microsoft.

There will be no succession to 11, 12 etc.
Each build update is essentially a new version of Windows 10.

Amazes me too. Even more, to think that Microsoft fixates so much on those tiles....the same tiles that made their phones look hideous and probably caused the downfall of the phones.

Microsoft shows off redesigned Windows 10 start menu

Microsoft has given users a first look at its upcoming redesign for the Windows 10 Start menu.

During a Windows Insider webcast, the company showed off an early version of the new design concept which was still under development.

This new design reduces the prominence of Live Tiles in favour of standard icons, making the tiles smaller and removing the coloured backgrounds for each tile to better fit the user’s theme.

More like abandoning metro ui **** in favour of going back to good old Windows 7 UI style.

One thing about all my 10 installations.
I unpin all tiles. Drag start menu to the left and use it like a standard start menu.

I hate live tiles or any tiles.
It's just more processing for the desktop windows manager process as well.
So I'm actually conserving energy.

Why bother with that at all when you can just install Start10?

Been using Start8 since the day Windows 8 released publicly and Start10 since the day that Windows 10 released publicly. I have no time for crappy Start menus.

The only Stardock software I use is fences and spacemonger.
I have used Start10 in the past and I didn't like it.

Sometimes tweaking and changes cause more issues than it should.
Using the standard 10 menu without tiles or effects is instant on my laptop.

The dwm process as I said is used less because I don't have tiles on it.

You should skip 11 and wait for 12. You know how they ****up every 2nd one.
That would make 12 the one to skip. Question is though what happened to those missing floppies of 9 then?

That's a half truth. Windows 10 is the last versioned Windows that will be called Windows X. The next Windows will instead be a service that live updates rather than the current periodic update model. Also possible they will simply switch to Windows with no brand marketing.

I do exactly the same, live tiles irritate me no end.
