Microsoft Windows 7 in January

It's a BETA version. Here we go with the slightly misleading article titles again

Operating Systems aren't something which should public BETA. You BETA trial email clients and...well...anything that google releases. But you can't beta a new operating system. Thats like trying to beta test airbags...you only know it doesn't work, when it goes all wrong.

going beta is like throwinga lifesize dummy in the front seat of the car to check whether the airbags work in controlled conditions, they know its not perfect, but thats the point, they wanna find out how it fails in a more real world environment

Windows is ALWAYS in Beta !!!!!!!

except for Windows XP Pro SP3.

Cant remember when last XP crashed on me. Also almost never need to reboot it.

Very nice :)

It always fails, even if not in BETA

It's a nearly decade old OS(released 2001) I would expect it to work correctly by now.

Have they killed the DRM rubbish yet?

I remember trying out Vista Beta... even the calculator crashed :D
A friend of mine has access to Windows 7 beta.... really wasn't impressed with it.

Your "friend" downloaded it cause the beta isn't out yet.

When you want to say stuff like that you should try and hide the fact that you are using pirated software.

Have u installed any applications, or connected to the internet yet?

MY XP SP3 is flawless. It was originally a SP2 installation that I made two years ago and it is still strong and stable. Only extra protection I use on it is AVG 8 Free. It is running at max CPU all the time since I have BOINC on it and uptimes are usually 3 weeks. I only restart for software installations such as Nokia PC Suite and the occasional ATI driver update.

XPSp3 FTW !

Oh - I have the Zune theme installed so it looks a bit nicer that the default theme.

actually i would think it is the very thing you want the public to test. in that way you get a feel of how the OS actually performs against the myriad of different setups we users have.

All that will happen is that some of us will set aside 20GB on our hard drives to test a beta. I ran F10 beta, i ran the 7801 beta of Win 7 and I am running Debian in it's most unstable version. I choose to do so. If you don't want to then that's your choice.

I have XP black installed ( wich is a stripped down modded version of XP with SP2), like many other people I know. I have never ever had a problem with it..

Why fix it if it aint broke? Long live XP

U should get a patent for your system.
One of a kind.:)
