Mind the speed ISP

Below is the answer.
surprisingly openserve is a much better network in support and speed (in repairs and changes) compared to vuma - also cheaper
Vuma and Metro fiber are filled with net problems, for private-owned networks pretty pathetic IMO. Openserve 99% uptime granted only up to 500MB lines but at least it's always on.

So I was with MTS since the beginning of the year. Moved from VOX (due to issues with them and their installation and wanting to charge me additional fees for services not rendered).

Moving over to Afrihost as I have been with them in the past and have had good service from them, especially when it comes to support. I could also not handle the intermittent support during office hours only when I have trouble with my connection.

Hopefully the process is smooth.

Was looking to move ISP's and have to say, that if their sales staff are an indication of their support, they are best avoided.

Opted for Afrihost as had an LTE service with them for my old lady with no issues (only reason I cancelled is due to needing an uncapped product for her and opted for Rain in this respect). Just waiting for confirmation that migration has been successful.

Ah... Rain.. they were meant to deliver a SIM for me close to launch. I never got the SIM. I've also heard terrible stories from colleagues working from home with Rain and how they can barely join online meetings with the connection. Most of them moved away from Rain in the end.

Hope your process goes smoothly though @RVFmal...

To date, my mom has had no issues with Rain so hoping that continues. Granted she really only uses it for her usual interwebs needs and mainly streaming Netflix, DSTV and Prime. Nothing business related and used more intermittently.

Yeah, me too. Would be nice to start the year without unnecessary issues

I must say, the technical support I've received from MTS has been pretty good so far. I had an issue today and they troubleshooted it to Vumatel (switch) and escalated. A small inconvenience, but I was down for about 2.5 hours in total and an back up now.

Mind you, with Afrihost (moving to them) I've had quite a few technical issues and even a double debit order before even starting my service with them officially. Hoping it goes better after I move over..

Wouldn't hold your breath. Was a mistake to even start the process of migrating to them. Much finger-pointing and blame-shifting, but lesson learned. It was a cock-up from day one.

Be that as it may, cancelled migration.
What was the mistake? Going to Afrihost or MTS @RVFmal ?

Migration to Afrihost was seamless. Line was dead just before midnight and back up and running by 02:30. No action was required from my side. I'm a happy chappy.

Is MTS down. I finally found a show which meets my low requirements, (Jack Reacher on Prime) which is based on the first book. Then it just hangs, I tried doing a speed test, but could not even open mybb. Connecting via my mobile data.

Something is wrong, though I suspect that it might be a "we're always up (except when we are down)" cloud issue.

I logged a support ticket at 14h00 yesterday, saying that I am unable to perform a tracert to Plex.tv..

Thus far, beyond the standard acknowledgment, nada from MTS.

I'm noticed clamping problems to amazon. What router do you use? Implement MSS clamping.

Usually PPPoE does it by default. So people on openserve are fine. On DHCP you need to do it on the router. The mikrotik has it on in its default config. The others are a hit and miss.
