Apple working on cheap AirPods — Report

Apple plans to launch a more affordable version of its AirPods, according to well-known analyst and Apple oracle Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a Twitter thread on Thursday, Kuo said the company was targeting a $99 (R1,658, excluding VAT) price tag for the wireless earbuds.

Apple missed the bus on this one. There are HUNDREDS of cheap AirPods out there.

Nah disagree, many many Apple folks will gladly pay the premium for the real deal items.
If this 99 USD item is the real deal at some point it will lower the barrier to entry & shift a truck load (more) for them.

Judging by the price of the Airpods 3rd gen ... R3,799 * $99 / $169 = R2,225

So much for "cheap" Airpods... I'd rather buy LEGO.

BT earphones are a great way to milk people for disposable items while at the same time pollute the planet some more. Keeping that headphone jack and using wired earphones without lithium batteries and which can last longer and not become misplaced would have not been good for the bottom line.
