No surprises here. The DoC are doing what they do best, screwing the country's digital future, consistently and very diligently, intentionally.

I think they purposefully inconvenience us on this sort of thing, thinking of the fibre installation issue... and now this?, what does the government have against progress?

I think it is to keep the whatever going for as long as possible to ensure a steady stream of revenue

Unfortunately, the DoC is too consistent with its history of achieving targets and meeting deadlines.

Is our situation so unique or so advanced compared to the rest of the world that we cannot copy good implementation policies from somewhere else?

Big up to Jan for having the balls to get the news from the horse's mouth and not just speculating.

This is just simply a joke. If it was a viable option and I had a mobile network..I would take things into my own hands...set a cut of date for deactivation of 2G...and then use 2G spectrum to roll out LTE. But dont think that really is a viable option...with so many people walking around with 2G only phones.

saw her on the news the other nite, and she looked way different to the pictures i've seen on mybb...
hmmm.... i wonder how "acutely aware" she really is of the communications industry and the needs, and what a mo@rse improvement good comms can make to the economy.
well, if there's one thing to be said for these ANC ministers... they are performing (or rather under performing) just as we expect... when they efup and fail in their responsibility not even a surprise anymore.
by now, we have grown so accustomed to them not providing the service we expect, need.

I guess it all comes down to the fact that they all just inherit the job, very few have any experience or know how or competency in the positions they get... and probly the same urgency or passion for the job as your garden variety council / state employee :-( ... only much bigger salary and benefits

can we still hope that JZ will wake the F up and realise that, especially for this position, he needs to put in a competent, willing, passionate for the industry person?

at current rate, even Malema would have better results... same competency (not!), but at least he can rally up a lot of supporters, and get lots done if he could apply his strengths in the right direction
