I just got my bill from Vodacom for My Gig 3 contract.

On it they list an item as:

Calls - Data Service

Data usage 515.41 Amount 72.16

After phoning them to find out how the hell I went over my limit when the Software usage bar isn't filled up they couldn't tell me anything except to request an itemized bill.

How can Vodacom justify suppling people with software which; 1) doesnt work half the time 2) doesn't show the correct data usage?

Does anyone know what this charge is?

And unrelated, does Vodacom charge you extra for using Skype with 3G?

No, Vodacom does not charge you a different rate for VoIP [e.g. Skype] usage - you get charged the relevant in-bundle or out-of-bundle rates regardless of the type of data that you generate.
 
Hi f4llen

Do you use the modem on more than one PC/Laptop or in more than one User Profile?
 
just on my laptop with only one user account. other threads also mention the irregularities with the dashboard usage meter. silly.
 
I heard that Vodacom has billed 81000 people incorrectly... You might be one of them?

I had a customer yesterday. he came to me showing last month's bill totalling at +-R2000. And he has myGig 1 contract with Vodacom. He on the other hand has 2 user profiles... so the usage needs to be calculated by adding up the two from each account. Funny thing is... it never reached a Gig... so how did he get billed almost 2Grand? and when i went to go check his Data Usage on the Vodacom4me Website, it showed that he used hi whole cap, nothing more... nothing less... but in actual fact he used just over half of it.

I did an itemised billing report, and it showed that for the current month his total lies at over 2000rand this time... and he didnt even use half his usage this time.

So my question is... Does Vodacom know what they are doing?

i wouldnt be surprised at all. My mother still paying Vodacom for a contract she stopped a few months ago

v3g. Can you help or investigate. (Maybe to late anyway). I think it is an ignorant user not understanding oobr etc. In a FAQ I read that for the 1st 3 Month there will be a block, did I understand this correctly.

How many more users like this ? that we don't even know of.

Iam3G How long did she have the contract.?

If she was using VMC=Lite then she would not have received the sms's. It does not have the sms option.

She took it out last year around end of March. Then, like the curious idiot i am, i shot the bill sky high. She payed that high bill. Its shouldve been done after that. I didnt even use the SIM for 2 months or so after that. Somehow Vodacom still managed to bill her high amounts each following month. Last time i checked, there was 600rand due, R300 outstanding, + another R300 becoz it was 30days overdue. This was of course paid. My mom calls me the other day syaing that someone deposited R2200 into the account and the Vodacom account is clean. Then i go and check the Itemised Billing and find that... eventhough the account is clean(this anonymous person who paid the R2200)... there was still another R850 outstanding. Take note... I havent used this SIM in 3Months... and this month the number got deleted too... i dont really dont know what is going on.

Where did i get that info from? I'm a 3G Support Specialt/Data Support Engineer working in a Vodashop. Many customers come in with these outragious accounts and seek answers. my manager told me that its Vodacom that billed the people incorectly.

It wasnt a 3G contract she took. It was 2 cellphone contracts(weekenders) she took out for me and my brother. I had the 3G phone. I was browsing and downloading and the bill came... no chrages on it. I do the same the next month... no charges. Third month into it... BAM... there it is.

Funny thing is, on all the statements, the date for the debit was wrong. It was supposed be the end the month, but asll of them said "12 December 2006"

OOps so where did it go wrong?. vodacom3g (v3g) I think would be the right person help.
 
I finally upgraded my dashboard to the Mobile Partner version of the Huawei site. Much improved.

Funny thing is, I got to log into my Vodacom4me account after I was finally able to receive their sms's using the new dashboard and I was looking at my data usage. I was NEVER over my 3gb limit in the last 3 months but they still charged me 1100 3 months ago and 1300 2 months ago. When the charge should be R750.

What gives Vodacom? What the HELL gives?!

The usage summary page on 4me only shows the status of the bundle, not any OOB usage. Run a detailed report to see your OOB usage.

Have you downloaded a copy of the relevant Itemised Billing reports? - if you have, then maybe v3g can have a look at what you're referring to.
