Mobile operators are off the hook with LLU; for now

Well they can barely pull their fingers out their arse for long enough to introduce fixed line LLU, so I'm not surprised that wireless is a long way off.

What exactly has ICASA done for the past 10 years that has helped the consumers? I would bet they have probably done more damage than good.

No surprises here, Icasa members just enjoying their tenders from Telkom.

I thought everyone was off the hook with LLU, not just the mobile operators...

I agree with LLU on fixed line, But not on wireless, wireless is quick and easy to deploy as apposed to copper, so LLU for wireless i vote no....

Yay! Now mobile broadband is off the cards for me! :p
I was worried it might become cheaper than fixed line (in terms of data allowance),
which would have forced me to follow the cheapest road.

I am using 8ta and Cell for data and MTN for voice . How LLU will work for me because I have modems that I only put cheapest SIM to access the Data with?

Same sentiment here, they've just ensured that Telkom is off the hook for at least another year.

You are forgetting a very important point. With fixed lines, any competitor can build another one. With wireless, the spectrum is limited and licensed, thus it is not quick and easy to deploy, except if you do have access to spectrum.
