More Free Data from iBurst? (Possibly 500MB)

Go jannie, Double Whammy!

The 500MB is the same 500M we already published earlier this month. (250MB for free and 250M for your e-mail addy for invoicing.)

But a lot of you would have seen your rollover suddenly increase in size this month.

[hint]
*Personally*, if I saw this on my account, I'd download like crazy before month-end when it might just come back in line again. ;)

I applaud that Jannie, i really do .
Even thought technical problems with Cape Town network corrupted a 3 GB download i got more bandwidth than i should have. Its the only reason I didnt leave iburst this month.
So 7/10 for bandwith pricing on this month :)

what? 3GB? - surely that wasn't in a single file?!

what program is that, doesn't it check the file as it goes along? hashes? checksums?

Nice speed you are getting there. ;)

Its Bitcomet and I only started downloading with it after the http download through firefox (so was resumable) corrupted.
Yep only one seed and im capped.
The first time i downloaded it, it got corrupted by Cape Town technical problems at Iburst ( constant disconnects and network eventually going down completely) and corrupted the download.
I had to re download it but got capped before it finished so now i have to re download it but unfortunately doesn't look like there is a lot of seeds.
So its basically Im running it 24/7 hoping to kill as much of the download as possible but slowly losing hope and realizing I'm gonna have to pay someone to courier it to me :( if the patch torrent traffic picks up closer to the release of the game again.

Jannie, this( Aion online ) is a new game that a lot of world of warcraft players are moving to.
Some say the best MMORPG at the moment.
As you see these patches are huge, so instability on the network could and have cause more than one headaches like corrupted downloads.
Is there anyway you can Host big popular games patches and files available on a Iburst server which doesnt get throttled after cap?
That way we can plan on patch downloads at end of the month when we capped. New games destroy our caps very quick .
Take these examples.

Thats just one game.
With more and more games moving to online releases where you buy a licence key and download the game client (Like Steam games, World of warcraft etc) its becoming an issue. Us gamers suffer the most at the cost/usage on bandwidth in SA because most patches are international downloads.
So something like SGS Filevault on a Iburst fileserver that doesnt get throttled when you capped would be an awesome blessing.

Aha, a gaming patch.

I've got a 'cunning plan' for gaming, if I can quote Baldrick from Black Adder. ;)

Baldrick is the name of several fictional characters featured in the television series Blackadder. Each one serves as Edmund Blackadder's servant and sidekick. They are all portrayed by Tony Robinson (although in the unaired pilot episode he was played by Philip Fox). Just as Blackadder exists in many incarnations throughout the ages, so does Baldrick; whenever there is a Blackadder there is a Baldrick serving him. In the first series of the show, Baldrick is more intelligent than Blackadder, but this dynamic is reversed in subsequent series, with Baldrick's intelligence decreasing as the show continued. He is the only character other than Edmund Blackadder to appear in every episode of the programme.

Should I cry ?

For those that didnt know :P

not an mmorpg guy myself but IMO this would be very popular.

if these things cant be provided on some local databank/server then at least unthrottle these files that many people need, by mirroring the files on local servers

Hi guys.

Please let me clear this one for you.

There was a bit of extra rollover carried for some subscribers.

Enjoy it. We will not be taking it back.

Thanks

So one person says the extra allocation might come back in line again, while another says that it will not.

Would you please clarify? I have ~7GB left for the month and, depending on your answer, will either download 2GB or 7GB before month-end.

EDIT: Would be rather disappointing to see the extra allocation reversed, as my experiences with iBurst have been rather unfortunate of late (for example, was told I'd receive 1GB extra cap this month as compensation for disappearing cap last month. This is the second time this has happened by the way) and my general feeling towards them has been improved by this extra allocation.
