this is so silly. Ruan is clearly the better overall player. How long have people been watching rugby?

Oh dear, here we go again... this guy still needs to see the light...this is so silly. Ruan is clearly the better overall player. How long have people been watching rugby?

Sorry could you please give us at least a clue as to what you are basing your assumption on?
Or maybe even why if you have been watching rugby for 10 years it makes you a better judge...
My gran loves her rugby and she has been watching rugby for the last 40 years(on TV now but at the games themselves when she was younger), but I am 100% sure I know the game a lot better than her as well as being a better judge of a player than her.
I watched Naas in the 80's and would have to say that Steyn is getting close to that.
Naas never tackled, Steyn misses a few, but still goes for it, and seen him in a few rucks.
If Naas went into a ruck against WeePee, they'd never have found him again.

RoflSAB team![]()
RoflIn the scrums, the Springboks looked like the SAB team on Saturday...

About as amazing as comparing Morne to Naas after only 2 starts... if you ask me...How do you know this?
He has started 2 games for SA with a full team and in both games he has broken records. Now that is in 2 games. Morne is going to become an SA legend.
I am not sure HTF you can a make a statement like that, absolutly amazing if you ask me.
I sense a bit of sarcasm..this is so silly. Ruan is clearly the better overall player. How long have people been watching rugby?
You guys really do make me laugh. And it is interesting to see capetownguy providing the only bit of sensible posting in this thread!
That's been said about South African for the last 2 decades, what's new?If you guys want to learn something about rugby then start reading planetrugby and scrum.com. There have been numerous articles on those sites discussing the concern at South Africa's current inability to score tries from attacking positions!
Yeah sure, he's probably the only one that posts the words you would like to hear I presume. I am glad that you also regard your own posting here as not sensible, at least you are honest regards to your own failures.

You would think that the only way to win a rugby match is by scoring tries but believe it or not it isn't.
I've watched Saturdays match again and honestly there was nothing wrong with Morne's ball distribution. He did it adequately for the Bulls in the Super14 and he continues to do it for the Boks.
For 30 minutes the Boks ran the ball and then for the remaining 50 they decided to opt for the kick and chase tactic. The bottom line is a 29-17 victory. What's the problem?
In 99 against the Lions we played a running expansive game, scored more tries then the opposition and lost the series on the back of shocking place kicking.
I prefer winning, dunno bout you Lance...

Oh yay, we got you attacking the individual again! That makes a change... ...

Yes, Morne got most of his penalties over but did any of you Morne fans notice the fact that our centres remained pretty much anonymous for the entire game. I only recall seeing Jacque Fourie once near the end! Added to this the only try created by the "backline" was by our hooker!!

Yes, we kick wonderfully for field position, with thanks to Frans and Fourie too, and we get a lot of our penalties over but we cannot get our backline going.
Habana and Pietersen have effectively become chasers only! They hardly ever see the ball come to them down the line. Guys this playing style will win games for a while but eventually at test level the opposition will work you out... You need more than one dimension. You need a flyhalf who on occasion attacks the line, chips over the defence, passes down the line etc etc etc. This keeps the defence guessing.
All you guys are seeing is Morne kicking over the penalties, which the forwards should in fact be getting credit for, and you are singing his praises! We need more if we want to stay on top!!
Rich coming from a poster that attacked everyone else posting in this thread (including himself) by alluding they post nonsense!
Some of us don't have to go to planetrugby and scrum.com to be able to form an opinion.![]()
