Morne will start again I hope and then pienaar can cover two positions from the bench so that we can have an extra player on the bench... Yes that means I hope they send Weepee's super scrummie back to them

well, this thread hasn't been discussed for a few weeks...
so now that everyone has taken time to think about it, where are we now?
I'm still going with Morne [being fastest SA rugby player to 100 points, keeping in mind that 5 out of his 8 games he came of the bench, and that THAT is primarily what he is there for]
I think the selectors have realised this as well...

Dont get me wrong, i will take both steyns ove Ruaan to start and as soon as you see that it does not work out replace Morne with Ruaan, he is not bad it's just there is no place for him. Maybe eve if Fourie is targeted successfully by NZ bring on Ruaan and give him a bash. BUT PDV SHOULD NOT WAIT UNTILL THE LAST 10 MINUTES.

agreed, Ruan's position is 9... and he and Fourie will be an unstopable combination @ 9
can you imagine having to deal with Fourie for 50/60mins, and the Ruan comes on...
As far as i know, Morne stated out as a fullback. but i think Frans/Conrad has that position settled.

I agree we need a goal kicker, so why cant Frans Steyn @ 15 take of conversion duties? I'd rather have a player that has good attacking vision that makes use of his whole backline than some one who just slots the ball over the posts.
I am a great fan of Pienaar, however the fact that his goal kicking has not been up to scratch, my vote goes for Styen.
However, asuming that Pienaar's goal kicking was the same as Steyn, Pienaar will get my vote. Pienaar has better tactical kicking, ball distribution and is better on attack.
I am really happy Styen eventually got a go and is playing well, it was long overdue.
However, I wish Butch could still play for the boks

Huh? What's wrong with Morne's attacking vision? Seemed to work fine in Perth.
And in any event kicks win matches!!! 101 points in 8 test, Morne is a machine!!!
If you check stats I've posted on here from Verusco for the Super14 you'll note that Morne's made more passes and more metres in the Super14 on average compared to Ruan so Morne's lake of attacking vision and flair is more a perception rather than a fact...
It's also prudent to note that in 97 we lost the series to the British Lions. While outscoring them in the tries department our kicking was woeful and we lost the series 2-1 as a result.
Goal kicking is a key component of winning test matches.
