Shame you jealous fanie
I don't really by into the mythos of Steve Jobs, so I took it more or less straightforward. The acting was top-notch, Fassbender never disappoints and even Seth Rogen is good. Sorkin script, so you know it's going to have some fantastic lines. Boyles is no Fincher, so this is no Social Network, but I enjoyed it.
Or reflection I think I prefer Cray's assessment, a very strong 7 or 7.5.
I honestly don't know, the scope of the movie was much more limited than a typical biopic, focusing on two three key events but it did mean that the areas they do cover where very well explored. Some people compared it unfavourably to the Ashton Kutcher one but that got shredded by critics and have no desire to see it.
Still really enjoyed this one as a backstory about Apple and Microsoft...

It's a solid movie and the acting is top notch. It gets unfairly compared to the Kutcher film which was dumbed down and made exciting. Solid 7/10 from me.

I loved that movie when I was younger. Haven't watched it again to see if it holds up, though...

Those that praise Steve Jobs are praising well written dialogue and good acting. As a movie that's based on the novel by Walter Isaacson it sucks to high hell.
Kutchers Jobs was more closer to the source novel than Jobs will ever be.
To be honest I watched about 45m of this Apple advertisement and switched off.
Can't help but think critics were paid to rave about this movie promoting Apple products.
No surprises that Fassbender is completely overlooked as Jobs while Winslet ( a former Oscar winner) is getting rave reviews for playing a character no one knew about until now.
Kutchers Jobs was more closer to the source novel than Jobs will ever be.

It was only loosely based on the biography by Walter Isaacson.
Why? Because it was more of a hack and slash job than this one?
It was openly attacked by Tim Cook, by Steve Jobs' widow and Jony Ive - and you're calling it an Apple advertisement?

1. How loose do you want to get because this was damn loose to the point of it being completely fiction?
2. Kutchers Job delves into Job not Apple so no comparison.
3. Of course it was rubbished by the family and especially the purists. This movie was made for the fans of the Apple product who don't have a vested interest in Steve Jobs as a person.

Yeah I believe that to be true. That's pretty much Aaron Sorkin movies. It's one of the things that really bugs me about him. He totally invents things that people then take as truth because they're based on well documented and recent histories. He did it with The Social Network and Moneyball.

Huh? :wtf: That doesn't sound much like an Apple advert. Apple fans are the ones who 'worship the altar of Steve Jobs'.
I don't care about either. But I enjoyed it. So I'd say this theory is misguided. Same with my fiancee.

Apple fans don't know/didn't know who fk SJ was but this was designed to reinforce that idea.

The Grey (2011) 8/10
Only watching this now; boy I've missed out. How could this not get widespread acclaim? It's brilliant; beautifully shot & so convincing. In many ways it's better than <The Revenant>. Liam Neeson owns this role.
