MTN Black Friday Discussions

So any router, hotspot device should be fine, issue is since the deal was introduced last minute to all the consultants some of them must've misunderstood that explanation

So dual sim option is the same as data share, another mybber said he got the R199 deal with 2gb data and that extra data feature allows the data incl the 50gb to be shared between 2 sims, the extra sim is R10 month

So, just 2 sim cards, not 2 numbers right?

Now just waiting for a consultant to pick up :) I'm on MTN prepaid and buy about R150's worth of airtime and data bundles each month, so this is definitely worth it

Thanks for the heads up.

Can you sign up telephonically? what number do you call?

I phoned 083 123 3667. Was on hold for 15min, spoke to a consultant who knew about Cyber Monday but couldn't sign me up. Said someone will phone me to assist.

Cheapest sim only package?

2 sims one number, from what I understand the datashare can be enabled for the native contract data only ie the 500mb/2gb etc and Dual Call also only the native data but also call enabled, with some restrictions as seen below:

https://www.mtn.co.za/everyday_services/calling_voicemail/Pages/DualCalling.aspx

Dual Call

Use two active SIM cards in your cellphone or car phone. Both SIM cards will be linked to the same account. One SIM card will be used for your cellphone, and the other can be used for a fixed cellular line, such as a car phone.

The SIM card will share the same number and voicemail.
How do I set up Dual Call?

Purchase a second SIM card.
Contact your Service Provider to activate Dual Calling.
Dual Call will be loaded on your cellphone.
This service is for contract customers only.

Functioning
Receiving calls

When receiving calls, the primary device will ring first before calls are diverted to the secondary device.
The secondary device will then ring.
The call divert number can be changed at any time.

VoiceMail

SMS notification is sent only to your primary SIM.

Datashare

Datashare on the other hand only shares the data and is not call enabled, the 50GB will be blocked from Datashare but hopefully the native 500gb or 2GB won't be but that still leaves you screwed as the primary call enabled sim will be the only one that can make calls and that will have the 50GB loaded and need to be in your router:

The BIG question is can I make the secondary Dual Call sim handle the 50GB whilst it lives in my router and the primary sim in my phone can use the 500mb/2Gb bundled contract data and receive sms's etc. I highly doubt it though :(

I know this might have been asked ... What documents do I need again for the application

They did not ask anything from me over the phone.

But in store you need, 3 month bank statement, payslip and proof of address.

Does anyone have this line activated since Friday? Or physically tested the simcard/50GB data works when fitted into an LTE router?

Not yet, got the sim but not the 50gb. It will take up to 7 working days to be loaded.

Over the phone they asked for 3 month statement, I.D and payslip. Emailed it to them.
