MTN Black Friday Discussions

Ok, so we all have a ridiculous bill that doesn't make sense. Has anybody managed to find an MTN rep who could explain how they are not screwing us over here?
 
I'm pretty sure there will be a correction before the debit orders actually go off... If not, there will be blood spilt!!
 
Chill blokes and just wait for the actual bill, also everyone will pay different 1st month bills because of the extra pro rata amount which will depend on the activation date.

The discounts should bring it back to R149 minus the connection fee for new sim I assume
 
I'm assuming that the current pro-rata promotion data expires before the renewal date of 14/12 and doesn't get carried over, yes?
 
Yeah, correct!! Roll over would have made what is already a stupendously sweet promo, insanely sweet!!!
 
What documents do you need to take delivery? Guessing ID and proof of address?

BTw I received my promotional data yesterday, but when I dial *140# I can see the data but not the 10,000 mtn-mtn minutes (although I have tested it and it seems to be activated). Is yours the same?

Dial *141*1# and choose "voice" then you will see your mins but they are shown in days
 
the guy said dont stress

if you stress about the bill call them now to fix it

or wait till you get the billed amount

at the moment its some unbilled amount
 
I got my sim the other day and it was Rica Barred - need to visit any MTN store to Rica the sim.

So I go to MTN this morning and they Rica the sim card - I enquire if they can do a balance check to see if the promotional data is loaded and when they enter the sim number another person's details appear :eek:

They said I need to go to an MTN direct store for assistance.

so I get back to work and pop in the sim in my phone and I've got 46 anytime minutes, R0 Airtime, 200 sms and 11.78 GB of data.

does that pro rata amount sound correct? and should I really try and solve this Rica BS story?
 
Is there an MTN rep on this forum? I applied for the dual sim 9 days ago and no one that I call or contact can do anything. The activations centre says they don't deal with dual sims. They guy from the store told me to call 808. When I called 808 they put me through to activations dept who then tells me to go back to the store. I'm pretty sure none of them knows what's going on and just trying to redirect me somewhere else so they don't have to do anything

Similar situation to mine. Applied on cyber Monday but told the agent I will collect sim at store. He said he will contact me.

Called the activation dept on Tuesday this week. They could find no application of mine. Said I should go to the store.

Went yesterday at about 5, agent not there but they could see on the system my contract is there and approved. They activated the sim then and there and added a note, don't know for who. To load the promotional data and minutes.

Just got an SMS and checked now. 8.43gb loaded. Seem correct as my billing date the 14th.

You don't get a dual sim. You get dual sim phones though. Might explain why they got so confused. :D
