MTN Black Friday Discussions

Hell man, there so many permutations with these offers. It's difficult to know what's what! Thanks for simplifying things MTN!! FFS!!

I'm also interested in knowing about data share via the MTN Mychoice 30gb package? More importantly can the data be shared with other numbers linked to my profile and also on BF contracts?

I've got 3 contracts up for renewal but everyone's needs are different. Wife needs minutes, daughter data, me 95% data.... So I was thinking, Wife 3gb data, 350 minutes, 100 sms @R199, daughter 60gb+60gb @R299, me 20gb+20gb @R149. Then the daughter can add the wife to data share cause 3gb might not be enough for her. Then all bases covered..

Guys, just a lil bit of clarity on Data share:

Pay as you Go, Flexi, and Choice packages can share data. (only base data, not promo)
i'm subject to correction on the Made for Me data sharing, but the consultant today says that you can share.
But what one needs to remember is that the base data on Made for me packages is max 5.5GB. all other data is promotional.

Made for Me S = 350mb
Made for Me M = 1GB
Made for Me L = 2GB
Made for Me XL = 5.5GB

Cannot share data to numbers that are on Made for Me packages. Was told by call centre and confirmed that I cannot share to my wife's number. She's on a Made for Me package

On the phone with retentions getting the 299 deal only for bf 2016 customers:
40 gig day (sharable)
40 gig night
150 minutes any network
500 minutes network

The same deal went for 199 yesterday but it was limited to a certain number of customers.

Did we ever get a final word of whether in fact this was shareable data or not???

I was surprise to find out Vodacom and Cell C's customer care works 24/7, would be surprised if MTN didnt as well

Do you perhaps have their fone number?

Apologies for the probable silly question, but can minutes be shared??? I'm thinking about getting the 299 60+60 deal, but may need some minutes.

Missus going for the 349 deal with data and minutes, and wondering if it's possible to share some of her minutes... ?

you can add on minutes to the data packages. Works out to about R136 per 100minutes which you can bolt onto your package. Alternatively, you can take the per minute rate, subject to your limit at R1.20 per minute (so no actual "Free" minutes but you can use as you would normally and stay under your credit limit).

So it’s cheaper to not have minutes bolted on, but to rather use per minute?

I didn't realise you could use Datashare over so many sims, whats the max allowable?

Can you Datashare from a contract sim(the 60gb+60gb R299 deal) to a prepaid Mtn sim?

MTN’s website says you can use Data Share to 20 numbers.

I’m sharing to prepaid numbers...

Was anybody able to dual sim their upgrade deals? I know they stopped it for the original 2016 BF deal.

If you haven't yet upgraded, first get a dual sim and then go to another store for the upgrade or do it via the call centre.

The guy I spoke to at retentions said the system is set up to automatically deactivate any dual call sims when the contract is upgraded
