MTN Black Friday Discussions

Thx.
only have 2 on it. I upgraded to a new 50GB data sim late Nov (BF), and been away so not sure if its actually working, or needs a reset.
Will check this eve if data is actually sharing...
Does the new contract support datashare?

It was the main selling point and why i got it, but was done through retention's, so would need the recording. But will definitely cancel if they have not enabled it.
SIM still has datashare activated but no idea if the main GB allocated is data shareable.
SIM is in a router at home so can only log in via MTN app at home, will check tonight

ah, they either sold a lie or they changed the agreement. got a 50GB data sim, and its seems only 1GB is showing as shareable, 50GB is showing as promo data. I specifically asked if all the 50GB was shareable and they said it was.
Not sure if i can get the voice recording of retentions that sold it incorrectly or need to fix the error on the system...

If the sale was through rewardsco/ignition group (operating as MTN in this instance) then they should have a recording of the conversation.

This was confirmed based on feedback I received when I had to email mtn complaints escalation channel for my particular query.

Hi. To those that "upgraded" to the 150gb + 150gb package for R318? Did you get all your data? Coz I only received 100gb anytime + 50gb night data. Logged a ticket over a week ago and they still haven't given me the rest of the data. Just checking it I'm the only one or if they're having issues with this package generally.
Hi...I have the same issue. Have your query been resolved?

I have the same issue too. MTN is taking us for a ride. There is no urgency to resolve it either. My query has been with for more than 2 weeks now but they haven't sorted it out yet.

Same here...my promo allocation was not given. Ignition has the recordings and has acknowledged the issue. Emails have been sent to MTN but still no feedback. Looks like this time we've been screwed.

Damn that sucks, datashare offers so much value to MTN contracts.

Nope. Still not. I got my allocation this month, still only 100GB and looks like the left over data from previous month didn't carry over either. Gonna call them again today *sigh*

I spoke to retentions. It seems many people might have been sold an incorrect product during BF.
Only anytime data can be datashared, and most of the special BF packages did not come with that, only promo data.
They tried to up-sell me from my 50GB to 60GB (1GB datashare to 20GB datashare) and I would rather just take out the internet platinum sim on their website with 30GB datashare, as that is all I need, I don't need any of the night data or promo data.
Upgrade fees to change products is R271. have to lodge a dispute and the funny thing is retentions cannot sell me the normal product platinum data-sim, have to go into store.

MTN are definitely taking chances. I took the 200 gig + 200 gig for R399 however MTN state that I am only on a 200 gig + 100 gig plan yet I was assured by the agent that signed my new contract of the forma. Now I have to insist they listen to the recordings

Also MTN are really going to charge us an increased contract rate despite us only just signing on for the new contract term???!!!

What the heck has happened to MTN !!!

Not sure but these outsourced companies and MTN are not on the same page with these upgrades. You will be shoved from pillar to post with no help.

This is a contact of a manager from MTN that ignition sent me. She doesn't seem to respond so maybe somebody might be lucky.

The problem is with the Ignition Group, the agents will tell you any old sht to convince you to take a contract. They know once the contract is signed and the user is up sht creek it's not their problem but they'll still get their commission. Scumbags!

So true, they linked a black Friday contract to the wrong number. After more than a week of them promising to rectify the issue I simply cancelled all my MTN contracts and moved to Vodacom.

The fact that there are three(?) seemingly separate businesses masquerading as MTN who don't have the ability to fix each other's stuff-ups is truly ridiculous.

Anyone know how you get the R399 300GB data plan? Ive tried calling but its just a waste of time, can you just get the SIM from an MTN shop?

I believe the deals where for mtn retension customers and not for new contracts.

If your contract is due for an upgrade then phone mtn and goto retension dept to find out what deals they will offer you.

Below is an mtn package sold by resellers

Have you come right? Any other contact details.

I got the deal 2023054 CT 45344 DG from retentions, extra 50GB and extra 100min. My one contract got loaded with an extra 500mins and the other got 0mins. They both were meant to get extra 100mins.

Going through the call center leaves me in circles.

I'm supposed to get 400GB data but only got 200GB the last two months, phoned MTN and they gave me some other number / company to deal with and they are now listening to the recordings and I'm waiting.

In my opinion it's bulls**t because I phoned MTN when I upgraded and wasn't told I'm dealing with another company so MTN should fix the issue.

Nope never come right.

I don't have other contact details.

Any idea how we can resolve this?
I'm seriously thinking of dropping MTN after this mess up.

Nope, I went into an MTN direct store yesterday actually to give it another try to get my data allocation sorted and guess what.. they can’t help me because the upgrade was done via retentions and surprise surprise the only option the person helping me has is to phone retentions via the public call centre number and naturally we got no where because retentions are absolutely useless.

It’s quite bizarre how Mtn runs retentions via an external company, a totally separate unit, different system and Mtn staff can’t see the specifics of the contracts they sign up and Mtn refuses to take any responsibility for what they do. You sign a binding contract with Mtn but you must deal with a 3rd party if you have any issues with the contract.
