Jail time
Jail Time
If MTN over charge - then it's a billing error.
They take extra money from your bank account - it's a billing error.
You take an extra a cell phone from an MTN shop, it's shop lifting and you go to jail.
Where's the justice?
MTN has over billed me 3 times in in the last year, each time I had to wait 3 months to get a refund with many emails and calls to 808.
1st time, I e-mail the service centre to load a recurring 2GB bundle that was advertised as a special.
They loaded the 2GB bundle at lower rate than the normal rate, but not the advertised rate.
The advertised rate was only for new data contracts and could not be added on.
They only activated the bundle on the billing system and not the "network".
I was charged R2/MB and for a bundle which was not "active" at the non-advertised rate.
I cancelled the 2GB and activated a 75MB bundle.
All was fine for a few months, when suddenly, all my data was billed at R2/MB, even though I had a 75MB bundle loaded.
Took 3 months to get a refund and many e-mails and phone calls.
All was fine for a few more months, I then changed to a 300MB bundle, and same issue,
They only activated the bundle on the billing system and not the "network".
Fortunately, I checked up on them a few days later and was able to get the billing error fixed before it became a problem.
Where's the justice - billing error my ass.
It's systematic stealing from consumers.
They should got to jail - for shoplifting from our bank accounts.
As a minimum they should be forced the refund the customer 3 months subscription (the time I had to wait to get my money back).
Why doe ICASA not investigate these "billing errors" (AKA theft) and fine them $$$.
Only a few more months left until I number port.
