MTN Speed Test Results

Well, I am getting a shady 846kbps for downloads and 222 kbps for uploads. My ping is 197ms. I am in Sandton and expect to be close to the real 3.6 on my E220 but I guess so far it is just a pipe dream.

During a week, trying to connect between 20:00 and 22:00 is also a mission.

download - 992 kb/s
upload - 52 kb/s
ping - 615ms
server - CT
area - CT International Airport , CT , ZA
device - E220 USB Modem

download - 1281 kb/s
upload - 56 kb/s
ping - 316ms
server - JHB
area - CT International Airport, CT , ZA
device - E220 USB Modem

This is most weird - get a better connection to JHB server than CT one whilst in CT at airport within minutes of each test.

Happens to me too, it seems the MTN network breaks out in JHB, so the JHB server appears closer than the CT one.

When I did a similar test two weeks ago, 24-7online was 2 hops closer on both MTN and Vodacom.

I did notice my upload speed in jhb always limited to somewhere in the 50 kb's.
However, in CT (gardens) the upload speed went into the 300 kb's. Is this base station related?

I have noticed today (albeit belated) that in Jhb my upload speed also now reached 320 kbps. Interesting...
Something changed last night!

Yeah, who is this 'service provider'? Mobile Telephone Network? Local?
