MTN Speed Test Results

What I would like to know is if you have a slow device which works at <1.8mbps and you compare it to a new one that can do >3.6mbps, then how do they rate when using just a 3g network?

V3G, Sorry If I bashed at Vodacom cause my MTN SIM didn't wanna work with my Vodafone Modem in the start. I don't even care now that it works, cause MTN is useless!:D hahahahah!

:p VODACOM YOU RULE GUYS, NICE WORK, KEEP IT UP! :p

Most importantly you went for the E272 instead of the E220. I'm sitting at the airport in JHB at the moment and just got this on my E272:

Download Speed: 2928 kbps (366 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1099 kbps (137.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

How many months after the "launch"?

Please post the official speedtest<dot>net results for us to check. Is this for MTN?

Hi all
would like to post my speed test but can't - my HSDPA card connects (reportedly at 3.6) but web pages won't load. Not sure if MTN has a problem at the moment or if something has happened at my end.

Although the download speed is quite tasty, I was more excited about the upload.....

Oh...got it. Sorry, this is not on MTN, I did these tests with my VC sim. I was replying to Keepers post. My bad.

My reply was more about the fact that the 272 is the new 220.

I was recently shocked and surprised when I had to switch to my phone's sim to make a data call. I got great results. Something like 1.3Mbps down and 260kbs up.

...And this from MTN?! Never thought they would have caught up so quickly. Well, thanks to Vodacom who is driving the market forward with excellence.

The customer wins, because I automatically have a fully redundant internet solution at home. Now I just need to work out how am I going to pay for it all?

Location: Helderberg Village, Somerset West
Server: speedtest.net / Johannesburg
Download: 1350kbps
Upload: 336kbps
Ping: 304ms
Device: Huawei E620

Notes:
This was after installing a Poynting LPDA antenna, signal strength went from between -107 and -101dBm to a steady -83dBm, occasionally -81dBm.
It appears that it's no longer just the Harrington Street tower that has had the 64kbps upload restriction lifted.
Using the speedtest.net Cape Town server resulted in a ping of around 170ms, perhaps traffic no longer needs to go to Johannesburg and back.

Hey ginggs, looks like MTN are finally doing away with their stupid upload cap...
