have you tried wireless? You dont need a phone line.

We had on the farm, but we were more offline than anything else because of where we were situated. A good option if you can't get ADSL. We didn't need a phone line, but you have to buy a router for outside. That's what we had.

This just makes me furious!
The reason I got this package is because we don't have any adsl ports at our exchange and it looked like the best alternative at the time.
Now MTN is just as full of BS excuses as Telkom was when I was waiting in vain for a port and paying a phone bill every month.
Seems like some of us are just doomed not to have proper internet at home.
Does anyone know of good alternatives that are also uncapped and hopefully have decent latency?

Dis weird, toe ek met hierdie kontrak in Julie 2012 begin het was my spoed nie van die beste nie, basies wat dit nou is. So het dit vir omtrent 'n maand aangehou (as ek reg kan onthou). My eerste 3GB was natuurlik baie goed. My throttled spoed het toe eendag, ewe skielik, tot 300+ kbps geklim en so het dit gebly. Daarna het ek throttled nooit onder 300kbps gekry nie. Dit was vir my heeltemal aanvaarbaar.

Hier middel / laat Des 2012 klim die throttled spoed toe van 300kbps na tussen 650 en 750kbps ('n baie aangename verrassing) en so het dit gebly tot 2013-02-07 waar die spoed toe teruggesak het na plus / minus 100kbps toe. Op die oggend van 2013-02-08 het ek 'n paar spoed toetse gedoen en ongelooflike uitslae gekry, tussen 7000 en 8000kbps, maar dit het net omtrent 20min gehou en daarna weer teruggesak 100kbps toe. So dis regtig baie weird...

Had just about the exact same experience as you. Currently cannot get over 16kbps since Friday. Not happy at all with this. Wtf is actually going on? If I insert my normal data sim it goes back to full speed. So definitely not a network problem.

Presies dieselfde spoed hier net soos jy se...behalwe nou vir daai kickass 7000-8000 kbps, het ek nou die dag 1400kbps gehardloop, hehe. My spoed was die afgleope tyd tussen 600 en 700kbps, capped, waaroor ek glad nie kon kla nie. Ai het so gehoop dit bly so! Gedink hulle begin ons jammer kry...haha!

The reduction in speed has got nothing to do with 9gb, everyone whether they're waaaaay over or under is being throttled to ~120kbps (according to windows I've used 300GB since 78 days ago).

They changed their throttling rules to ~720kbps in January. Which everyone appreciated. They're clearly playing with us, I just wish there was some transparency as to what is going on. Because as it stands it's barely possible to browse the internet with these speeds let alone actually do useful things.

Mine went up to 183 this morning and then down to 130 again soon after and about an hour ago, nothing, now it's back to 150 again.

They came back to me also. But no utter word being spoken about what is causing this.

Well looks like mine is now atleast 256kbps. My little awareness campaign may have payed of. Just to make sure. Any other people that is seeing an improvement

Mine is still slow.
I got through to someone eventually on 1555. The guy told me there is some kind of network maintenance being done and connections could have intermittent quality untill 5 March but it should be infrequent.
Yeah right, more like very constantly crappy.
