MTN Uncapped Lite

That's amazing! What type of broadband are you getting? ADSL?

LOL, had ADSL. Telkom messed up my account and it took literally months to sort out with the help of a colleagues husband who works at Telkom. So ADSL is unfortunately not in my future.

Tried wireless internet but I am not within line of site of company's towers who are willing to treat me like a customer (airtelecom). The other wireless provider (iclix) treats me like I am being done a massive favour and am not a paying customer.

So no internet thus far LOL

When my contract expires I will suffer from internetlessness :( Unless something else pops up.
Why did MTN cancel the uncapped? I am one of the lucky ones who always gets a few Mb/s during the cap and >= 256Kbp/s after the cap.

I had 4mbps MWEB uncapped and I was the happiest camper ever.

I'm also one of the lucky ones who had very little to no problems so far with Uncapped Lite. Also very sad that MTN put an end to it. I've got a little over a year left with this contract and if MTN or someone else doesn't offer something similiar I'll have to make another plan. Hopefully I can go the ADSL route but I understand it's a bit of a nightmare to get.

More, more! Hoe is julle mense se spoed deesdae?

I can just imagine. Must be awesome to have that.

What kind of money are we talking?

Mine was about 6 months back (cancelled it before I went to experience 150mbps in the US haha) and I paid R899 incl line rental.

I see prices are at around R700 now. Won't get a 4mbps line again as I don't game and download that much anymore and for Hulu and Netflix everyone says a 2mbps line is sufficient.

My friend from Ireland keeps sending me speedtest screenshot of his 150mbps download, 100mbps upload fibre optic line URG!!!!

Speedtest gee so 0.15Mbps down en 0.10mbp up. Eks baie baie negatief

I have a question (which I also posted on my thread that has the exact same name), do any of you reckon that the fact that I stay on the second story of a three story building will cause my speeds to be that low? I get the mentioned speeds with the modem on an extension hanging out the window as otherwise it is even worse.

I live on a farm so, adsl is out of the question, so yes, maybe something else will pop up in the mean time. I hope so, at least. Looks like the capped speeds are back at 500-700kbps?

'Please note that it can take minimum 10 working days for our co-ordinators to get back to you on the ticket'

WHAT THE *^(*&^ ARE THEY DOING EVERY OTHER DAY?!

Maddie, nee lyk my nie ek's so gelukkig soos jy nie...

Test conducted on 6/26/2013 11:21:48 AM

Download Speed: 237 kbps (29.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 202 kbps (25.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 321 ms

Hierdie spoed kry ek konstant na my 3GB klaar is en so gaan dit sedert Januarie.

Sorry but I have absolutely no idea if that might have an impact. It will most probably not solve your problem but give MTN a call and ask them. It really does seem, with this contract, that you have to be in the right spot. I use mine extensively at home and work, both in Pretoria East about 5km from one another, and it works perfectly. On my throttled speed I surf the net without any hick-ups. At work, I'm on the second floor of a 5 floor building and I have no problems.

Oh, I take it that you have contacted MTN... Just ignore that part then on my previous post!

Ok toemaar julle, dit was seker net 'n oomblik, terug na my normale spoed! Eish! :D
Agent47 hoop jy kry gou terugvoering.

Hi all. Stroke of luck i guess for me. I am on this package and in the last 4 days I have downloaded over 100gb at speeds of up to 500 kbps. This is the first time since Ive gotten it that the speeds have been remotely so fast and that I have downloaded so much, normally I get 30gb, if i leave my pc on the entire month:)

So for some odd reason I did not get capped this month :) MTN U rock :)

May I ask, what do you download? I mean an average of say 50GB per month is totally understandable, a bit excessive but understandable, but when people mention more than 100GB I cannot other than think that you must obviously be downloading movies and series after series. Now don't get me wrong, if you PAID for said movies and series, then by all means, 100GB doesn't sound unreasonable at all but what makes my blood boil is people who steal. People who take something that doesn't belong to them. Download something they didn't pay for. And there are countless internet users who does this. Why??? These days you can very conveniently buy the original products for very good prices. I really never could and won't ever understand why anyone would bother downloading a movie or series. And if the series or movie hasn't been released yet. Then you f#cking wait until it gets released. The same goes for ANY software. If you want it, buy it, if you cannot afford it then that's just too bad.

And another thing, why do some people with uncapped internet download anything and everything that they can? Even if it's never going to be used / watched / installed / whatever the case may be. It's because of mentality such as this that we have throttled speeds in the first place.

Maybe you use it for work and need to download huge files of who knows what which is ace but for a private / home internet user, downloading 100GB + screams piracy.
