Anyone with an update? I received a pamphlet from a CellC Fibre consultant yesterday but haven't seen any trenching yet!

I called Octotel last week about fiber in Marina DaGama and the person on the phone said by July but it sounded like a conservative estimate in the absence of actually knowing a date.

I called again today to get a more definite estimate. I spoke to someone else who said they are needing to get approval from different counsels before they can begin trenching. City of Cape Town, Water and Sanitation, and many more. They took my phone number and email address and said they would contact me when they know.

"Trenching Underway" is what the coverage map says, which appears to not be true.

Thanks for the update. I am using @cellc fixed LTE which is beyond ridiculously slow (it's a waste of both time and money) and I can't wait for fibre. I was hoping to be connected in the first quarter of the year but it looks like it's going to be a very long painful wait

Hey guys - I today saw a truck on Main rd Lakeside / Klein Wassenaar that just said "Trenching Contractor" on the side and a whole team of guys with digging implements.

Also received a OCTOTEL booklet in my post box explaining all ..... location Muizenberg.

So things may be starting.

Rue also let me know that Muizenberg phase 2 will start next week - same phase as Marina da Gama.

Here's hoping they start at both ends as it is a large area.

Thanks for sharing, however, there are a lot of ISPs offering more (free installation, free router, uncapped, unshaped and month-on-month plan) and on a non-contractual basis. I have heard a lot of good things about @CoolIdeas but would not recommend @Afrihost or @cellc fibre.

Yay they STARTED digging/trenching today. Phase 2 Muizenberg from the beach side - dunno if they started from Marina side yet.

Supposed to put stickers on the wall before inserting grey pipe but got home and the grey pipe is already installed. Luckily on both sides of my property.

So count down has begun.

It is taking long, they are hoping to have Costa Da Gama live around June/July!

Spoke to them at the spoon street park open day - lakeside phase 1 goes live mid March.
