Yip octotel updated to say they are behind with the network build and will only go live mid April. I've canceled my octotel pre-order as their network performance has been horrific over the last 2 months, even after they did a supposed core upgrade. I'm going to put in a pre order with frogfoot instead.
The core upgrade hasn't happened yet.

Well I was told the network was supposed to be going live mid/end of May. I just hope this isn't going to be months of empty promises of upgrades. I've ordered the 100/100Mbps via Cell C, if the service doesn't give me at least 90Mbps majority of the time or we experience buffering due to network congestion I will simply cancel and move on.

Be careful of this cellc have a nasty claw back clause so you may be in for some hefty cancelation fees, especially if you've gone for their media package with the black box

Then perhaps theres hope, I will wait and see what the network performance is like in the area. In the meantime I will give frogfoot a go.

So the trenching is almost complete, guys are paving the last house where they had to remove bricks, CPE boxes have been installed on the walls of each house. What happens now? do we wait to be approached by the ISP we've signed up with? I know some people have these boxes on their walls for weeks if not months, I'm just trying to get coordinated. Pity @Cell_C doesn't roam this thread.

After trenching they need to blow the Fibre and perhaps still setup the distribution node if it hasn’t already been done.

Correct. Node is actually one of the first things installed before trenching. They will blow fibre now and should be done within 2/3weeks

I'm pretty sure this was done already. Also this is not pertaining to the thread but I noticed the tube running into the CPE majority of them are grey, but one or two in the street would have orange? Does this indicate a Gigabit connection or is it used for another purpose?

Different providers have different colours. Also certain sleeves which hold more than one fibre cable are different.

Also if you open the terminal box fitted on your wall there will be cable inside once it's been blown. The grey tube is to house the fibre cable from the optical splitter for your block.

Walking to the shops yesterday I see 2 guys from Billion Networks doing some more digging and busy with a greyish coloured manhole thing. Is that a distribution node?

Yea tarring in Uitsig Marina is basically done too now.

You are on Muizenberg Phase 3, Uitsig; Park Island and Eastlake were Phase 2 so you should be next, holding thumbs for you.

I've received a planning document from Britelink via the body corp complete with photos of every apartment and how they will do the cable runs.

Oddly enough Frogfoot's name is under the drawing information section. The Access points I saw earlier were branded Octotel though.

Today one of the mini trucks parked outside my house, 3 guys were measuring the distance from one manhole to the next, they spray painted something on the ground? Anybody know what that's for?
