Muizenberg Fibre

so end of june lakeside is 100% Fibre Ready

According to the quoted timelines, I suppose so.

Octotel have already gone live from Orchard village up until Approach street. Frogfoot are supposed to go live in the same section in the next 13 days but I'm wondering if they will as they may already have lost the bulk of the subscribers. I don't see any other areas on the coverage maps where there have been crossover between Octotel and Frogfoot.

is anyone that has fibre working in which ever area you are do you use Seacom ? what is their fibre like?

No trenching or any activity in Muizenberg, seems like Octotel withdrew their people and did put the project on hold. June ETA seem impossible, I am now extending my LTE service period which I had hoped to get rid of soon. A bad start already with Octotel.1557471367309.png

Ja they seriously dropping the ball - they still have not blown fibre into the micro ducts yet. Still rolls of blue micro ducts sticking out of the pavements.

Not to even mention back haul.....

The ducts sticking up have been closed up around my area at least.

Apparently we still have to wait until Lakeside is complete which is still in progress.

Well Cell C decided to bill our household R3602 on the 30th of April but we signed up for a Sim Only Month to Month contract 200GB @ R789pm and 50GB @ R289pm on two separate sim card cards that comes to R1078pm then on the 6th of May a statement comes up with an amount of R1802 due. We've tried to tech support with Cell C, been through countless phone calls with nobody to help us even in the billing department. Nobody seems to care, guess we'll just have to wait 14 working days and let ICASA handle this. Sad thing is if we just refuse to pay it we get blacklisted. We are literally being robbed. As for our fibre they've gone quiet so I guess that's a bust. I have a R6500 Netgear Nighthawk sitting in a sealed box which I can't use because I was under the impression that as per that useless sales rep (I'm not going to release his name, could cause legal complications) told us that we would be live in the middle or before the end of May. I'm going to invest in external Antennas for the Huawei B618 looks like online streaming will be limited to one TV + Plex with several TB's of linux distros cough cough will have to be our method of consumption. Good thing I got those hard drives when I did. Below is a statement for this month.

Their billing system doesn't even work properly, previous month shows nothing.

I'd suggest against using rain.co.za unless you're willing to wait until 2am in the morning to download your stuff. It seems to be massively over-subscribed in our area.

Yeah but Rain offers the best data for the price, there's nothing else like it in our area at the moment. I'm excluding contracts of course.

If this your first billing then you must have been billed Pro-rata

Can't argue with that.

Unfortunately some days rain works okay for me and on other days it's running at <2Mbit/s.

Start a thread in the Cell-C section, maybe the rep can help.

Holy crap I've been following your threads for years :o I've used your software when I was still on crappy MTN LTE in 2015, that helped me out a lot. Thank you so much for your contribution to this forum. It's an honour to meet you. Oops I'm completely hijacking this thread now. (Okay I'll behave).

De nada!

Anybody know wtf happened here? Things just died down, I still see Lakeside being lit up but it seems Octotel has stopped expanding their network? Anybody think this has something to do with the congestion and trying to limit strain on the network?

Phase 3 is being implemented, they have been busy trenching Costa Da Gama since last week.
