Line is 2Mbps, ISP is Mweb, 1Mbps uncapped, I am getting this speeds as of this morning:

Download Speed: 1743 kbps (217.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 412 kbps (51.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 38 ms

And I did not upgrade, I checked just now, there still is isn't an option to upgrade to 2Mbps online. And my existing product is 1024 for R199.

This happens to me as well with the same setup as you. However don't expect this the whole time.

Certain downloads and at random times of the day spike like that for a couple of seconds but on average you should get anything between 118-122KB/sec compared to previous 106-112KB/sec.

IM still getting my same speeds as always, and every now and then il get around 110KB/s. But its very rare

It's been like this, constantly, for more than an hour now.
The power went out this morning, and when it came back on the router restarted and it is faster since then.

I was in the same boat as you but i had to phone telkom and ask them to drop my sync rate to 1mb. Only because my line wasnt stable at 2mb and i couldnt hold a connection at night.. But i was getting 2mb on my mweb 1mb account. I think (and im not certain about this), but these changes are only supposed to kick in on 1st oct? if thats the case, perhaps you have until then before you get limited back to 1mb..

Mine is still floating just above 1mb at the moment. The router says I'm synching at 2 though. What I want to know, is we are paying R488 for the 1mb uncapped and ADSL line rental at the moment. On the Mweb website, it says that 2mb with line rental is R599. That is a considerable jump in price. Are we expected to pay that going forward or are we staying on 1 until we move to 2 or are we moved to 2 as an existing 1mb subscriber, but not at that price?

I'm on the mweb 2meg product and your speeds are better than mine!
I've maxed out at 1.6 Mbps on speedtest so far. After the line upgrades, I was getting
the full 1 mbps on the 1 meg account, so I think that it's the best value account currently.

Hi cyberbob1979

Please could you Pm me your account info, I'd like to check this for you.
AFAIK, you have a choice of upgrading to 2Mbps all inclusive, staying on 1Mbps with 2Mbps line for R488 or downgrading to 1Mbps all inclusive for R339.00.

Jaaa, but I can like move heavy stuff around. :D

ROFL :D

We were fairly quick to pick this up ourselves actually, but it's certainly very sporting of you to have mentioned it.

There's a bit of an issue with the Cape Town traffic managers which is causing your happy side-effect. This will be resolved later this evening so enjoy it while it lasts :D
