MWEB ADSL and business support changes

What exactly does "will not be very high" mean?? It's very open ended... I feel for those that stand to lose their jobs... a cr@p way to start 2014!!

well there is at least two jobs that MWEB should slash that will result in quite a saving to the company ...

The consultation process has only started, so it is simply not possible to say how many people may lose their jobs. When a figure is available we will certainly bring that to you.

Why does the CEO have to make it sound so classy? It sounds like they are downsizing and they going to to be job cutting soon. I guess the many subscribers they lost, or rather, chased away has had an impact in their bank account ;)

It's a rare company that improves customer support by reducing the number of staff ...

Is this the beginning signs of a sinking ship?

Nope, this is just typical Naspers style of keeping shareholders happy.

Fire (sorry "retrench") a 1000 people this month then tell shareholders who fantastically well their investment has done and then three months later scramble to re-employ people but under different divisions than they retrenched from originally so as not to break the law and then the poor people who didn't lose their jobs suffer for it while doing extra work and having to train people all over again.

This from one of the richest companies in South Africa that could happily float the salaries of thousands of people if they weren't so ****ing greedy.

I wonder how the talks of an IS acquisition are going

there is a guy on the forum who seems keen to start up an ISP maybe he should buy MWEB and "open source" it a bit

Well Hershaw is increasing profitability by kicking off their high cost clients from their network, and he's now making their cash position and balance sheet look a little healthier. All within a short space of time with drastic impacts. All of this points to them being an acquisition target in the near future with them artificially improving their financial ratios...

I can think of one specific job that needs to be cut there, sounds like an excuse to me. I wonder if Derrek and uncle Mac have dinner plans later on :whistling:

Any fool acquiring without performing a basic due diligence (for ****s sake a google search) to determine just how toxic management of MWEB has been deserves to be conned on the fudging of the numbers. Sadly the fool doing the acquisition may well actually not be the person suffering by making such a stupid move with peoples pension funds and what not being the victim.

And looky at Telkom's margin of share price change ...

Also points to Hershaw gunning for a fat bonus so he can bugger off and go fishing. Short term "fixes" for long-term pain. Analysts will love it.

MWEB will be moving the support of most of MWEB Business’ ADSL customers and services to their call centres in Cape Town, which the company said offers the scale to provide a better and more efficient service to these customers.

Is there perhaps another reason why they doing this... e-tolls perhaps.

just saying :erm:

Mweb sounds like a real bunch of losers by making all this sound like it is something people should celebrate. I remember they were all the rage back in the day when I could not afford to get ADSL.
