MWEB ADSL international down

On a side note. Expecting first world redundancy from India (read Tata/Neotel) is asking a bit much I think. They are all about turnover and NOT service... believe me.

Leaving aside your xenophobic remark, you clearly don't have a clue what you are talking about. Anyone who has been to India will tell you that the service culture there puts most countries to shame. By comparison, South Africa falls very low on the list of service cultures. Let's see - Transnet, Eskom, Telkom, MTN, Vodacom, M-Web... Or were you including all of South Africa in your remark as well?

MWEB can still be held accountable for not providing redundancy. If I remember correctly, last time this happened, they said they had measures in place to ensure this wouldn't happen again.

say what BradBowlLlama

When last has any of us taken an ISP's word when they say something won't happen again?

Is this a run-of-the-mill cable break, or has it been sabotaged by someone with sour grapes?

There seems to be a pattern developing here.

Its Neotel's fault, its SEACOM's fault. Just say... sorry.

How is this SEACOM's fault? I'm on Afrihost and have no issues with my international browsing. Instead of Mweb always laying the blame on SEACOM they should lay the blame on the real culprit: Neofail. Why is everybody so scared to call them out on this?

MWEB should have a plan.
Neotel break - go DarkFibre
SEacom Fail, go SAIX.
etc etc
It's called infrastructure Planning.

How do I cancel my MWEB account on their website?

I have to make a point...

Go Darkfiber to joburg... anyone got 50 to 100 million lying around? Oh wait, the subscribers want CHEAP uncapped broadband...
Seacom fail... go SAIX... Oh wait, the subscribers want CHEAP uncapped broadband...

It's called infrastructure planning... and the more plans you make... the more SOMEONE has to pay... Anyone want to see their fees go up by a factor of 5?

Catch 22, ain't it?

Many folks here cannot understand how expensive it is to run fibre links!!

Hey there Andrew!

I second that aswell ... redundancy costs money.

I recall an ISP explaining this once as well: they don't have full redundancy in place as this costs money and will not allow them to provide ADSL at such low costs as they are now.

how typical and 25 people were counting on me to lead a first 25 raid :P ohh well thanks seacom, mweb and neotel... for nothing.

don't you find it incredible timing that Axxess released their R99 special...JUST in time for MWEB to fail?

I wonder how many accounts they sold tonight....lol
