MWEB ADSL network changes

Lacklustre response from MWEB

I accept that the network is complicated, but what do myself and others do while you are trying to sort yourself out Will?

I'm getting nowhere with a logged call while I have to suffer 27Kbs download speeds on a line that used to give me 400kbs.

Do we get a credit against our monthly bill? After all we haven't been receiving the service you are contractually bound to provide.

It's swiftly becoming time to vote with our feet.

A daily phone call to say it's being attended to is not sufficient.

Guys in the other thread are reporting that its fixed in JHB and Durban, and I have confirmed the same at home. But it looks as though they might have simply turned the tables on Cape Town (jury still out on that one).

If it is fixed though, then I'm amazed at what can be accomplished with enough noise, and a MyBB article. :)

J0n0 maybe if you one person but garry has to share his connection with his family. It's not the need to download all the interweb, but total persons that pushes up the usage as well. Some of us do more than just warez btw...

/reports garry to the troll police :erm:

Yes a Durban IPC would be awesome.

Anyway most people when something is working wouldnt say anything nice but when its crappy we will hear about it forever.

No, I mean I have enough of a life to not needing to download the interwebz. ;)

Why do you have to troll the mweb threads so much? sour sod much?
J0n0 you are the one that keeps coming back to this thread and trying to annoy people. Please leave this thread. Everyone who has a problem with j0n0 and his remarks please report him so he can get banned. Under the name next to "blog this post" there is a little triangle with a "!" in. Use it and report J0n0.

I feel like a real sucker and deserve what I get from MWEB - I only manage to "suck" down +50GB per month :D
Wow, thats nothing. Would be better to get a 50gig capped account imo. With Openweb I do 20gigs a day using p2p only.
Dude, let us know when you are able to do 20 times that much.

I've never done 50GB in one month and I'm on the Internet all time. It's of home use, not business. Maybe system32 meant general "multimedia type" home use.

No acknowledgement of the problem just sidestepping and spindoctering; crisis ? what crisis ?

I have to wonder what happened to the ASA ruling stating that mweb's uncapped is not uncapped.
It isn't going to be enforced. (They must have whispered something magic in someone's ears and waved a wand ;))

+1

Seems to be much better at the moment. Hope it holds out.

Also, thanks for the feedback Will, Nice to hear that these issues are being taken seriously.

Hi Everyone

I’ve just come from a meeting with Rudi and other senior management discussing the issues around this article and the general discussion we’ve seen in this forum recently so I’d like to take the opportunity to provide some additional feedback.

Firstly I can assure you that no-one has their head in the sand regarding the feedback we’ve received from this forum and we will continue to take your concerns very seriously and address them as far as possible.

The input provided by StNick and others has prompted us to establish additional monitoring systems and we are currently evaluating every possible aspect of the network performance in both JHB and Cape Town and on our international links to see if there are any performance anomalies which need to be addressed.

I would also like to point out that based on the feedback in this thread and our general client base that there are no clear indications at this point that there is a wide spread problem in JHB affecting all users.

This means that we cannot exclude from our thinking factors such as the performance on certain portions of Telkom’s backhaul network as our customers do have to traverse these networks in order to reach the IPC links. This is not to say that we are attempting to shift the responsibility for any issues elsewhere, merely that it must form a logical part of our investigation into the customer experience being reported.

Finally just to address a point that was raised regarding our plans for a Durban IPC node. I can assure you that this currently has no impact on the performance of the network, however the network build is progressing well and notwithstanding dependencies on 3rd party stakeholders we hope to have this in place towards the end of Q3 this year. This will certainly be good news for our subscribers in the KZN region and is a great step forward in establishing a truly national network.

Kind Regards
Will

Thank you Will... I'm relieved to see that all the energy I put into this thing eventually paid off, even though it is a bit disappointing that I needed to go to the lengths I did in order to get heard. Still, I'd genuinely rather see MWEB remain at the top than jump-ship at the first sign of problems and with the help of the MyBB community, it certainly feels like a small victory.

Umm, then why when I switch ISP, I get full line speed. paleeeez, enough with blaming telkom or trying to, ITS NOT TELKOM!!!!

Just read the threads and you will see that for
PIERRE-VAN-RYNEVELD
Rosettenville
Tollgate (Durban)
Honeydew Ridge
it most definitely is Tekom.

The problem on these exchanges is independent of the ISP, and even Telkom acknowledge it's their problem.

Did M-Web decide to kill off Astraweb?

Last night and tonight it is not connecting and shaped into nothingness.

Does not explain why locally cached youtube vids play well while new vids don't.

Yesterday E3 stream was atrocious on MWEB yet my free Afrihost account worked well.

Lots of other users also have access to other ISP accounts and all report good speeds when switching accounts.

Also people have been issues for the last few weeks. Before then everything was awesome.

The only thing the CEO Rudi have correct was the date, when they actually fsucked up the Mweb network and experience. There is maybe hope but bI cannot wait for Q3. If things do not improve vastly soon, I'm out.

Um, Crysis is a game. Do you maybe mean crisis?

Derailing threads where the comments are trying to add meaningful facts to the issue should be bannable. I think Mybroadband.co.za should consider moving to a monthly paid service. Seriously.

Okay, maybe you should go read this thread, if those specific issues are related to Telkom, why bring it up in this mweb thread? We are talking about an issue with mweb, nothing to do with Telkom at all, which has been proven many times over. Rather go start a "Telkom infrastructure problem" thread instead of derailing this one.

Kthxbai!

Other ISP CEO's should learn from this. A straight forward answer, linked with some dates would have brought much more clearance. This garbling that no-one understands only lead non customers to be wary of MWeb. And Rudi, just as your customers are not fools, they can understand if you experience problems, just be honest about it.

ADSL (4MB) uncapped on MWEB is for the birds! I have been on IBurst now (my standby) for the past three weeks as the ADSL line is intermittent due to a very high attenuation of 57.8. Is anything else availble in Bryanston? We get only GPRS from VC and MTN for most of the day...I have not tried Cell C...It's difficult to run a business like this!

Then he should state that and not go around trolling mweb threads saying "I told you so I told you so" whilst flinging mud at mweb. He does not even use them so why should he be bothered about them and their users so much? I got reported for calling him a troll and sour sod. I seriously don't care about it, because that's what he's doing. Why comment on how much people download and are happy with the service? Why tell them, "oh is 50Gb all you did this month?" If you want to troll, take the flak.

I said it before, it works great for me. I can download when I want, and it does so at an acceptable pace, and browse all I want, at an acceptable speed. I don't watch any series', so don't spend days downloading seasons of the stuff, not am I bothered about movies etc.

Yes there's people that are unhappy, and I agree, it needs to be sorted. But what's it got to do with Gary??

Dude, you need to see an anger management specialist.
This is a Broadband and technology forum.
I will comment on any article I see fit as is my right to do so.
If you don't like it tough cookies for you. I don't give a hoot what you think.
My beef with Mweb goes way back long before you even joined this forum.
I have used them in the past and had my fingers burned, hence my frustration with their lies and misinformation.
In fact, the entire Naspers organisation and Holding Company are one big web of liars and cheats.
I despise them... and will feel free to vent on them given any occasion.
There is nothing you can do about it. Sorry.

Ag shampies. Sucks to be you to have nothing better to do than to badmouth a company as much as you can whenever you get a chance to. ;) :p

Quite petty and childish imo. And I will voice my opinion about your trolling and childish behavior all I want. There's nothing you can do about it. Sorry. :)
