MWeb as ISP?

My Telkom Internet 50GB capped account has been running well this month.

The problem is that they are unreliable and inconsistent with, what I would consider regular, ups and downs. One day will be good, the next won't be. This is correlated throughout the forum.

But who knows, maybe it's getting better. I certainly hope so for the benefit of the consumer.

I follow the Feedback thread and recall seeing issues all over though. Don't quote me on it, but I'll pay closer attention to it from now on.

I've had my feelings that CPT is stuffed, but please could you link me to the fact?

Yeah I left shortly after the letter, like many did.

I am well aware of bandwidth constraints. But then again, I pay the higher toll price for the express lane. Why would I pay MWEB's toll price to go slower, or wait until midnight before flooring it, or if I travel too far then for the next 30 days I have to go in the slow lane?

No thanks! That is not my idea of quality internet.

I fully agree with you, and am happy that you have something that works with your idea of quality Internet. I respect that idea.

I understand that an AH Business Uncapped account (IIRC) works for you because of the idea that you can move otherwise restricted data at any hour.

You may also have the idea that it has solved issues you've had with ISPs.

I disagree with using your two year old experiences as the basis for these feelings. I strongly disagree with using them to 'advise' (and mislead) people asking for advice.

By all means warn them about the throttling and give them the threshold limit, and tell them that their downloads may be shaped during hours. Tell them about your two year old gaming and SEACOM issues.

If you paid as much attention to MWEB threads as you did during the two to three week period of no daytime torrents, then you'll know that you cannot fault them for anything else, and that there's therefore nothing else to warn people about. :)

I swear there is a witch hunt against Mweb

Don't forget which side started the war

Offering "uncapped" products, then switching them to softcapped, without giving their subscribes enough time to cancel

Don't get me wrong, I respect what they did, but after the soft capping they've completely turned back on their "free the Web" initiative

I was lucky enough to cancel with them those years back, about 3 days before they sent out the emails announcing the soft cap

Good evening

Im currently with Afrihost on 10meg line Capped 150gig**. I want to move over to Mweb, and need to know if this will be a good move to go uncapped 10meg line? I youtube during the day alot, and night time downloading.

Please advise

Chris

Stay away from MWEB!
Trust me on this.
As with all things, they are great in the beginning, then a few months down the line you start having issues.

Honestly, they as bad as OpenWeb - both are the pits!

PS: I love how sometimes they'll offer you these 'test' accounts that work like dreams... Yeah, it's a DREAM - trust me!

Hmm 6mbps uncapped premium account here
My 30 day window is 330 GB
Still easy get 600-700kb download speed even sometimes peak to 950+kb 10mbps line

On 6meg premium the soft cap is 600GBs.

Hi StevenC

I respectfully beg to differ with you, I'm able to game, stream and do my share of downloads. ;)

In all honesty, if you know what sort of data you use for a month and sign up for the equivalent package, you shouldn't be throttled.
Also you can make use of My Account and to keep an eye the 30day rolling window data history.
So if things get to close for comfort, simply ease up for a day or so.

I am getting throttled during the day badly, with mweb
way before I rich my limit. and I am on a premium package
:)
no not funny.

Afternoon igi, please provide me your MWEB account details via Private message.

Also outline the protocol that is being impacted on by slow speeds
