MWEB launches Nimbuzz

i been using nimbuzz for at least 3 years now. i will admit to lmao when i read the article though. makes it sound like mweb designed it or something.

hahaha i must agree i had a fricken lon when i read this......i too have had nimbuzz for well over 3yrs, i swear im sure theres a law against plagiarism somewhere, cos is that not what this is?passing off some1elses product as your own??? id have accepted "Mweb buys Nimbuzz for local deployment " as a heading but "launches"??? hey then again Al Gore also invented the web...... ;)

Well after 3 years i don't think anyone can have much more patience.

On the VOIP side things the best J2ME based client must be www.eqo.com . It just works haven't seen anything that runs better. Haven't used fring, does it have a J2ME version or only have smartphone support? I'm also beta testing an official J2ME skype client at the moment it can only recieve calls and be used for messaging. But in other countries call out has been succesfully tested.

I don't suppose you can give me the linky for the skype j2me program, cause I need skype on my phone ... but don't have windows mobile.

AFAIK all the J2ME VOIP apps aren't really true VOIP, they just initiate a call and then the server calls you and the person you're trying to call and connects the 2. If you have a Symbian phone try fring.

Yes that is correct. But it does use your skype/eqo credits and that is in some cases still cheaper than a normal or land line call charges. So if you don't have a smartphone you'll have to make do.

Here you go: Java ME Skype Beta and here is some more info.

Thanks ... I don't need it for calling ... I need it for messaging on skype.

European Mobile VoIP Startup Nimbuzz Raises $15 Million
tramite TechCrunch di Erick Schonfeld il 01/07/08

Mike Butcher at TechCrunch UK reports:
Word has reached me that Netherlands-based Nimbuzz, the mobile VoIP and IM startup that extends into social networks, has raised $15 million in a second round led by Naspers/MIH, with Nimbuzz's other major existing investor Mangrove Capital Partners also participating. It's already had $10 million from Mangrove (the original Skype investor). Apparently deals with 10 major social networks and three operators are already on the table. The latter see these kinds of apps as a way of boosting data use and therefore revenues. The cash will be used to extend to Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android. They are looking at a million registered mobile users so far.
Nimbuzz offers free mobile VoIP, conference calling, IM and group chat and photo and file sending across multiple IM communities, including Skype, MSN, Google Talk, Yahoo!, AIM, Jabber and ICQ, plus 23 social networks, including apps/widgets for Facebook and Myspace.
