MWEB - SEACOM OUTAGE UPDATE

So MWEB is using mainly SEACOM I see. Maybe I must move to Neotel or not ! ?

Well, a troll is someone that posts messages that upsets/insults a person or group... so in this thread, I am sorry to say, you are the troll xrapidx :D

Um - you miss the part of it going both-ways? Oh, and a troll does it for direct attention.

Here I thought I was paying for 4MB uncapped.

Isn't there another thread where newly joined trolls can troll - or are you a previous degenerate who was banned?

If you're going to degrade this to bashing forum users who are newly joined and suggest that your off-topic rambling is relevant because you have a higher post count then you reflect very poorly on the user base here.

This thread should be for Seacom updates, your whining and complaining is not relevant to the subject at all.

Perhaps before you "think" you're paying for anything, you should check your terms and conditions and see what you're really paying for.

You mean doing exactly what you did when posting previously?

You seem to know a lot about the forum, what was your nick before getting banned?

1. mweb uncapped = cheap
2. price (round off- R200)
question: how many customers are on mweb uncapped. figure that out.
take x amt of customers and times by rounded off amt. youre eyes might just pop out of yr head.
should be a fair amount.. an amount fair enough to cover a contingency plan?

Not to mention their parent company is Naspers:)

That again? Seriously? Read the thread for the response. Before you "think" you know whats been said and what hasn't

I was not trolling, you seem to regard anyone who speaks out against you as a troll.

I merely requested that this thread be used as intended, for Seacom updates, as I am tired of seeing new posts and finding them to be nothing but people re-iterating how crap the service and their internet is at the moment.

I was not banned, my previous nick was Silverwing, and for some reason (possibly inactivity) the account does not exist anymore.

Once again we are going off-topic, how about a thread dedicated to complaints, then the rest of us can choose to read them or not, as they add nothing to the thread.

Really? So I've been calling all the others trolls... interesting.

But you are correct, its a bunch of people (self included) fighting over something they actually know nothing about (our rights when it comes to these outages) - and its going in circles - so I'm tired of it, please refer to my previous posts to answer any ramblings about the T&Cs.

Based on the numbers provided on the forum before, lets say 150K users. Not sure what you mean by "round off" or "price" but I assume you mean the average revenue per user (ARPU), in which case I would probably place that closer to R300.

That means that if the numbers are close, that's about R40 million p/m revenue from their ADSL.

For their IPC their spend is likely close to between R20-25 million p/m.
For backhaul (national + international transit) connectivity and other bits and pieces they probably have to spend an additional R10-15 million p/m.

That means their spend per month is close to R30-40 million per month (if not more). That leaves them with less than R10 million to pay for other things such as hardware, employee salaries, backup bandwidth, etc.

Suddenly that huge figure doesn't look so huge.

Ok, I'm not getting into this whole argument but I'd like to point out some things that Mweb might want to work on. Yes I understand that it isn't their fault and they're doing their best here but so far they've fallen down in a few places. So if anyone from Mweb is reading this here it is.

Since Monday when I tried to call Mweb for Tech support all I got was dropped lines. Eventually the calls were routed to other departments. The reason: high call volumes. Now I can fully understand that but 99% of big companies worldwide at least have some sort of queuing system. They don't just drop your call. Even if it just says "You are number 5000 in the queue, you will be helped in approximately 10 days."
And before some smart a$$ asks why I called them if we already knew the issue I will tell you. First I called them because there was no outage report yet so no one knew what was happening. Yesterday I called them when I couldn't get on anymore and their position was still that there was alternate routing available. I also had no internet connection so I couldn't check the network status or see the emails.

Now if you read the latest network status notice there is a line "Access to local web sites, Internet banking and e-mail will continue as normal."
Well the vast majority of the time when it goes down I have no local, no email, no connectivity at all.

Strange Internet access

Hi

I dont know if its just me but mu P2P is downloading at its fastest ever avg 430 KB/s, but yet i cant access Google or any international sites, can anyone confirm.Has Mweb forgot to shape P2P or what?
:D:D:D:D:D:D:wtf

So why are local sites so slow

Because of over saturation of the IPC that mweb have purchased. They did not get enough.:) You are most likely running on a 2000:1 contention ratio.

@Degaron - He said local "sites" not torrents.

ment the guy that was stating his torrents were flying.

So when SEACOM goes down local sites are slow?
