MWEB - SEACOM OUTAGE UPDATE

If you purchase a cheap Chinese import with no guarantee, when the expensive guaranteed product is on the next shelf and it breaks, whose fault is that? You can go to an ISP without that clause in their contract, then. Or you can take it to court, and let a judge decide if the contract is conscionable. Your example is not, while I think the current MWEB one is.

If you want a guaranteed uptime, get a diginet line. They are all unaffected, as far as I am aware.

Good thing I don't work for MWEB then. But you are wrong there, sometimes it's better for the business to fire a customer. The "customer is always right" mantra is not always applicable.

Then by all means, lodge a complaint with the ISPA, ICASA, the DoC and the courts. I doubt you will get far here, personally.

There is always a guarantee, implied or otherwise.

This is really starting to adhere to my mammary glands.

If refunds/compensation for this type of thing are not law in SA, then they should be. This is the direction Europe is heading; with the airlines having to refund/compensate for cancellations on their side -even if it wasn't there fault. The reasoning is that it prevents companies from sitting on problems and forces them to resolve any given situation as soon as possible.

Everyone back online?

Can we like to be using our p2p again? :D.

Yea SSung but they have control where as mweb do not have control of what happens to the cable, it is not like they are sitting on the problem so i doubt that applies to your above post :D.

Are you referring to the "allowed to change" t&c's that have probably changed since joining? They could also changed to we will only provide you one day of uncapped a month, and your notice period now is 10 years.

You can't sign your rights away, period.

I would be very worried if I heard a company say something like this. It's akin to saying," If you don't like my shop, go somewhere else!". A Customer service NO NO!!

I do agree they might have got access up again (or apparently not from a post in one of the other threads) , my argument here is that should I not be getting the service I have paid for, whether you think it is worth my money or not, I am well within my rights to claim damages.

Its also not MWEB who'd handle the complaints, it would be the relevant consumer group..

There is always a guarantee, implied or otherwise.

Yes. And they are fulfilling it. They are doing a bona-fide effort to restore their service.

If you order a KFC burger, you can't complain you don't get the same food as a Nando's full chicken with a side, then go complain about your rights. You go get what you pay for. If you want a better service (bigger meal) you get to pay more.

If you have a maid that is supposed to come to your house and she doesn't pitch because she was in a traffic accident in the taxi do you not pay her? Why? because you did not get the service? .

No work - no pay

I am a contractor, if i am not at work, i dont get payed... simple, my employer expects a service from me, if i do not provide that adequately then i dont get payed.

It called a fair exchange of services, get service get payed, get no service get no pay.

Are you blind? I posted them from the consumer protection act.

I read them, and you interpret them, you make them applicable to your situation.

You have thrown away reason in literally all of your posts, you just want because you think you have experienced an injustice... you have not, there has been some acceptable downtime on a undersea cable (that you chose, if you failed to research it, your fault) and you have thrown all your tows out the cot.

No laws have been broken and no rights violated, yes you have all those rights you listed before but as I said rights and REASON go hand in hand, which you don't seem to grasp.

Let me put it to you like I would a child, You have the right to defend yourself against others if they intend to harm you, you may even kill them should it come to that. In the case of a rabid killer trying to stab you, you may kill him provided that you could not prevent him from killing you in any other way.

But in this case a toddler is pointing a butter knife at you from 100 meters away and you have blown his head off with a deagle. You have the right o defend yourself and yes PERHAPS the kid may have given you a light grazing but killing him? not your right, because reason has been applied.

Look at this through neutral eyes, yes seacom is down and you are not guaranteed definite 24/7 service through your service as it is best effort and outside influences can interfere. You are blowing this out of proportion.

Every time you complain about the outage a toddler is killed!

Just remember that...

SEACOM, this one is for you...

Broken lines, broken strings
Broken threads, broken springs
Broken idols, broken heads
People sleeping in broken beds
Ain’t no use jiving
Ain’t no use joking
Everything is broken

Broken repeaters, broken plates
Broken switches, broken gates
Broken dishes, broken parts
Streets are filled with broken hearts
Broken words never meant to be spoken
Everything is broken

Broken cables, broken saws
Broken contracts, broken laws
Broken bodies, broken bones
Broken voices on broken phones
Take a deep breath, feel like you’re chokin'
Everything is broken

Ok - let me put it to you like I would to a child.

I am paying for a service, I am not getting it - thats it. No excuses.

And again, I am referring too if they are down for an extended period as claimed (week+) - this comes down to the reading thing again.

I have just got home, 3 nights down, and I can't upload a simple photo to flickr on my 4MB line - thats close on 10% of the product I've been unable to use this month.

You are paying for what it states in the Mweb Terms and Conditions, which is exactly what you're getting.

Isnt there another thread that whiners can spam, so that we can just focus on Seacom updates in this thread?

Every time i see a new post i get my hopes up and then it turns out to be someone bitching and complaining.

Here I thought I was paying for 4MB uncapped.

Isn't there another thread where newly joined trolls can troll - or are you a previous degenerate who was banned?

Well, a troll is someone that posts messages that upsets/insults a person or group... so in this thread, I am sorry to say, you are the troll xrapidx :D
