Not so, can easily tell from tracert, which for SAT-3 and SEACOM-TENET are very different.

Oh, I see the TENET-SEACOM graph shows a tiny blip in activity for about 5 mins around 22h40, then died again.

Puzzled + tired = sleep time...

That's because MWeb don't have a working real-time network status indicator, only a page that sometimes gets updated hours late!?

That "thing" barely qualifies as an update... its like a statement of failure :p
Least they could do is like mail us n tell us wats going on.... but instead we gotta hear if from the MWEB dude on this forum... tsk tsk mweb!
 
Now come on now, its 11PM and there is no http access overseas.
Anybody using axxess? How is the situation wrt int'l bandwidth?
 
My first post since joining MyBB, have been reading alot though, Since this Seacom crap I'd thought i spend my time on local forums. I'm on mweb uncapped, but feel more like im on capped account and using my local cap now!!!

Feels like im one of MWEBs bug testers... busy testing the redundancy measures of the network wen it goes down... which by the way is a massive FAIL.
 
Quick question, which is the best ISP to buy a few gigs from while SEACOM fix the problem? You know, cheap, no contracts etc.

I'm using G Connect. Basically if you buy in small amounts it's R37/GB and if you buy in lots of 5GB it's R30/GB. If paying R389 you get R14/GB.Vodacom b/w.
Nexus is R59/GB but it doesn't expire at the end of the month. I think the small increments R37/GB (top ups) don't expire either on G-Connect.

Not that it is any of our business, but there isn't anything sinister about this at all.

Unless they are charlatans they will be spending that money (and probably more than) on trying to keep their service running. You and xrapidx seem to suggest that they are profiting from this outage.
 
since last night i still dont have international but torrents running at 420 steady!!! it slowed down earlier after i reset router before i went to sleep but its flying now.... wont be resetting my router anytime soon....
 
ya i was online yesterday till 3pm then i went down, now im down again, how the hell do they think i should run internet cafe without internet and the damn router is mweb locked >.<
 
Extract from here suggests that SEACOM is not obliged to provide any redundancy:

"A Seacom spokesperson told ITWeb that redundancy measures or alternative routes to get international bandwidth were the responsibility of the Internet service providers and that they should have plans in place."
 
Well i kinda agree with Seacom.

It not like Axxess, Mweb and Telkom, Web Africa dont have the money to make alternative plans in place for when such a thing happens.

Or and i missing something about all the money they get
 
SEACOM are trying to re-route via another cable to India, but this has not been successful so far. A tracert this morning showed a few hops that I have never seen before. IP Whois lookup shows 125.XX is allocated to bahrti.com (India).
