MWEB - SEACOM Update

Based on the latest information to-hand the maintenance work on the Seacom undersea cable is now progressing well and there is a possibility that it will be completed ahead of schedule. The current estimate is around midnight on the 28th of April (tonight). Please note that these are estimates only and may change subject to weather conditions at sea etc.

And you did it again, the maintenance is not being done on the Seacom cable, LOL. Thanks for the update though MWEB. I'll shut-up now, before I get a rep for being too anal

Nothing to do with MWEB but just to show how this is screwing with everyone's universe. Checkout this traceroute to sweden. Literally going right around the world before you get to Europe. Mindboggling!! This is via TENET BTW.

Yeah. TCP/IP impresses me immensely. Drop a packet anywhere on the 'net with a destination IP and it finds its way there one way or another.

Heard the work has been done and cable is working again. I think TENET said they will cut back to SEACOM around 17h00 this afternoon. So if all is well, things should normalize this evening abouts. Yay!!! This was not a pleasent experience!!!! :P

Who did u hear this from?

If accurate, that is good news indeed. Still nothing on their website or twitter...

Once the Seacom link is back up and running will the ISP's have to manually change back over to it from SAT3 or is that automatically done?

International Mini Status Update

Hi All,

Just for clarity, our network is still not running its standard routing topology, however have enabled some additional alternate capacity which should improve performance to near nominal levels.

Also please note, although the repairs to the SEAMEWE4 cable are estimated to be complete by 00h00 local time, this does not mean at the stroke of midnight a cutover will occur.

We appreciate your continued patience.

MWB.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date Mweb, we all appreciate it!
